Hi! Welcome to my classroom website. I am very excited about starting a
brand new year and meeting each of you as well as your child.
I'll begin by telling you a little about myself. I have taught first
through sixth grades for 30 years. I began teaching at Woodall 17 years ago
the first year it opened. I was a little sad about leaving Woodall but am also
excited about new adventures here at White House Heritage Elementary.
I moved to White House 7 years ago and love the small town and friendly
atmosphere. I was born and raised in Mississippi, but have lived many places
since then. I lived on the island of Guam for 2 years as a Missionary
Journeyman. While there, I helped to begin a student ministry on the campus
of Guam University. It provided me with many unique experiences. Two of the
students from one island lived with us which helped us learn first hand about
a different culture. I can also remember having 5 different languages going
on at one time in the Volkswagen van I was driving to one of our meetings.
Now, that is distracting, but we all lived!!! While on Guam, I was able to
travel to Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Several years later,
I was fortunate enough to visit England, Wales, and Paris on a church
trip. My family has also traveled to "most" of the states, and if money were
no object, I'd love to travel to every state and continent as well.
I have a fantastic family. My 88 year old mother, 92 year old dad, and
my two sisters (I won't dare tell their ages!) still live in MS. My brother
lives in Atlanta, but doesn't get to visit very often even though we're closer in
distance because of his work. My daughter married last year and lives
nearby which makes me very happy. My son and daughter-in-
law enjoyed traveling to Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Australia this summer. Mom
got to see pictures all along the way on their blog. Isn't technology a
wonderful thing!!!
Inky, our "spoiled" (I prefer the term loved!) little dog has her
favorite chair for lounging around while I work in the classroom after school
hours. To me, it seems there's something wrong with this picture! (I think
a dog's life may be looking a bit more promising right now!)
My favorite things to do are: enjoying friends at church, going home for
holidays with my family down in MS, watching movies with my daughter, watching
my favorite son-in-law cut my lawn on the riding mower, baking
chocolate-chip cookies for my son and daughter-in-law, eating out, playing
board-games, showing off Inky's tricks, and traveling as much as
possible with the friends and family I love.
Good, better, best,
Never let it rest.
Until your good is better,
and your better is your best!!!
