Mrs. Connie Lawson 5th and 6th Grade Math Teacher

WELCOME to 5TH AND 6TH GRADE!

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.
This year is going be an exciting one. The students will be engaged in
curriculum projects, collecting tabs, soup labels, box tops, participating in
4-H, Clover Bowl, and other academic/specialty/athletic activities.

I am a native of Marion County. I obtained my teaching certification and
masters degree in elementary at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I
have been in the field of education for over twenty years. For the past
thirteen and half years, I have been teaching elementary at Richard Hardy
Memorial School. I am very enthusiastic about my job and enjoy working with
young people. I want to be one of the many teachers that makes a difference
in a child's life.

I believe education focuses on the individual child and his/her ability to
succeed in life as well as education; therefore, as a teacher, I play an
extremely important role in society. Our nation's most essential natural
resource is our children. I believe education is very important for our
nation's children. Also, I believe children must learn the basics, but they
must be cultured, nurtured, and inspired with the cooperation of parents,
schools, teachers, and communities. Each child must be allowed to learn at
his/her own pace, but also must be challenged; however, accomplishing both
tasks is extremely difficult because not two children are alike. I believe if
each child understands and feels what he/she is doing is important and
meaningful, then each child can succeed in life and in education.

I believe education is the foundation in which to build a promising future
for all children. Education opens many doors for children and provides then
with many wonderful experiences and opportunities. As a teacher, I feel that
if we (parents, schools, teachers, and communities) can provide a good,
quality eduational experiences and opportunities to our nation's children
today, then these same children can contribute to our nation's future. Also,
these same children will be able to provide the same educational experiences
and opportunities to children in generations to come. Our children today are
the future of tomorrow; therefore, I believe that Richard Hardy Memorial
School provides and prepares our children to become life long learners and be
successful in achieving their goals.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call and make an appointment to
meet with me or write me a note. I understand you and I have extremely busy
schedules; therefore, I appreciate your time and cooperation.
