![]() Poem "What's In My Backpack" You ask, "What's in my backpack?" You ask, What's in my backpack?" Each day we do so many things. When I come home each day. So many books to read. I wonder what you hope is there. Sure is nice my teacher knows If it's empty, is that okay? Exactly what we need. I tell you about my busy day, That backpack on my back today How the teacher watches over me. Carries back and forth my stuff. We sing, we laugh, we share, we If you want to know what I learn learned, That's the way it's suppose to be. Listening to me will be enough. You ask, "What's in my backpack?" My teacher wants to plant a seed, I say, "Today it's empty." Get my "love of learning" to sprout. I see the disappointment She wants it to last a lifetime- As you look down at me. That's what school is all about. School is much more than "things" It's in my head and in my heart That you can see and touch. That learning will take place. It's all of my life lessons, "Childhood should be a journey..... And that means so very much. Don't look at it as a race." For if you really want to know Written by Donna Whyte What I do each day, It won't be on paper; You'll know by what I say. Please don't look so unhappy When you open the zipper wide. What you are looking for today Is all in my inside. Ask me about my hands and ears, My nose and my eyes. Ask me what we talked about, And if I remember why. |
