Do you offer extra credit?
Extra credit assignments are available for those students who wish to take
advantage of them. Extra credit is offered throughout the nine weeks, not
at the end of the grading period. Extra credit must be turned in by the
deadline to receive the extra credit.
--------------------------------------
Will my child receive midterm/progress reports?
Yes, following the 4th week of each grading period, your child will bring
home a midterm/progress report reflecting his/her grade to that point.
These should be signed and returned.
--------------------------------------
What comprises my child's final grade?
Averaging grades:
homework + classwork + quizzes + tests (+ extra credit points) = final grade
(all count equally)
--------------------------------------
Are students assigned lockers in fifth grade?
Yes, students are assigned lockers in fifth grade. No locks, stickers, or
tape may be placed on lockers. Any pictures or decorative items may be hung
with magnets. Lockers are to be kept neat and clean. We have random
checks. A student whose locker is found unacceptable will receive the
following consequences: first offense: warning; cleans locker
second offense: loses locker privileges for 3 days
third offense: loses locker privileges for 1 week
fourth offense: loses locker privileges for the
remainder of the grading period
fifth offense: loses locker privileges for the
remainder of fifth grade
--------------------------------------
What is your make-up work policy?
# of days missed = # of days allowed to make up the work; child's
responsibility; call office for homework BEFORE 9:00 and PICK UP AFTER 3:00
--------------------------------------
When will homework be assigned?
Homework is usually assigned on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Many
students complete homework in class under my supervision/with my
assistance. However, assignments should take students approximately 50
minutes to complete, not including studying for tests and working on
projects. Study guides for social studies are usually sent home at least 2
nights prior to tests.
