The week of November 16th – 20th is National Children’s Book Week. To
celebrate this week, we will have several events planned for our class. One
of those activities will be on Thursday, November 19th. Second Grade will
hold its annual Story Book Character Parade. On this day, students will
dress as their favorite storybook characters and visit other classrooms in
grades K-4. Students will show the book their favorite character is in, and
tell who wrote the book. This is a required activity for all 2nd graders,
and everyone who dresses up as a book character will receive a “100” in
reading that day. Costumes do not have to be elaborate. Your child will need
a copy of the book his/her character is in. We are very excited about
Children’s Book Week, and look forward to seeing lots of creative costumes.
You most likely can use your child’s Halloween costume if you so choose. (We
will let you know about some of the other activities for that week later on.)
Please let your child’s teacher know if you need some ideas to get started.
