I began my teaching career at this school thirty eight years ago.
Except for one year as a first grade teacher I have taught
kindergarten children during that time.
I have a degree in Early Childhood and Family Relationships and
Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee, and a Master
Degree in Early Education from East Tennessee State University.
I am married to a high school English teacher and have two children,
Mary and Rob. Mary graduated from the University of Tennessee with a
degree in Math and Secondary Education. She is teaching math in the
Marietta Middle School in Marietta, Georgia. Rob also graduated from
the University of Tennessee with a degree in Chemistry and Biology. After
four years of medical school in Memphis,Tennessee, he and his wife are in
Knoxville where he is in his fourth year of residency at the University of
Tennessee Medical Center. His wife, Katie, is a pharmacist at the University
of Tennessee Medical Center
Hospital in Knoxville. Rob and Katie are now the parents of Anna who was born
June 7, 2009 We are your typical adoring grandparents who can't visit often
enough.
The mission for my class is to introduce beginning kindergarten
children to the joy of learning and interacting with other
students. I want to foster enthusiasm and interest in their
environment and world. Our goal is to explore with our
senses,question with our minds, and stretch our physical growth
to its fullest potential.
