About The Teacher
I, Susan Thames, am the daughter of Rev. Bill and Marie Carroll. I was born in Morristown and raised in the big city of Bean Station, Tennessee. Because both of my parents worked in Morristown (my father in the school business), I went to Morristown City Schools for an early education. As a cheerleader and member of many groups in High School, I learned that being an active participant in school makes learning all the more enjoyable. I graduated from Morristown West High School in 1980. I am married to Chuck Thames and have one daughter, Emily, a third grade teacher at Surgoinsville Elementary and two step-daughters, Tia, a Special Ed. teacher at RCS who's married to Wes Trent, and Tori, a freshman at ETSU. We also have one dog, Keyla, a Yorkie, who thinks she's queen. I graduated from The University of Tennessee in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and in 1995 with a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Having taught at RCS for 26 years, I am so proud to have former students come to me with their children and say, "I'm so glad my child has you for their teacher." While teaching is my first love, I take great pleasure in singing with the Christian Praise Band, REv3lation and participating in activities through my church, East Rogersville Baptist Church.
Mission Label:
Mission
The mission for my class is that every student will be given the opportunity to learn in an environment that is safe, effective, and conducive to learning. Through enrichment and remedial experiences, each student will excell to his/her greatest potential. My goal is to become unnecessary by my students; thereby insuring their right as a human to become self motivated.
