Discipline Policy

I am pleased to have your child in my class this year. In order to
guarantee your child and all the students in my classroom the excellent
educational climate they deserve, I will tolerate no student stopping me
from teaching or another student from learning. I prefer the student to be
responsible for their own behavior and allow them to learn
responsibilities that will earn them positive recognition. Therefore, I will
utilize the following classroom code of conduct for the 2010-2011
school year.

	RULES IN OUR CLASSROOM
*Listen carefully and follow directions the first time given.
*Be prepared everyday for class. Have necessary supplies and
       homework.
*Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.
*Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.
 *Respect school and personal property.
 *Work and play safely.
 *Obey all school rules
 *Always do your best.

	POSITIVE RECOGNITION
 *Praise
 *Positive notes
 *Reward time
 *Candy or food treat
 *Fun Friday
*Coupons (homework passes, computer time, sit at the teacher's desk
      for a day, etc..)
 *Touchdown passes

I will be using a reward and consequence system to complement this
code of conduct. Students will want to avoid getting a "penalty"
Anytime a rule is broken the student's football will move back 10 yards for
each penalty on our "GOALden" behavior board. Positive behavior may
result in gaining yards back or first downs. The consequence chart is as
follows:
Touchdown= Earn stamp on touchdown card and Fun Friday time
10 yard line= Earn Fun Friday time, but no stamp on touchdown card
20 yard line= Half of Fun Friday time, but no stamp on touchdown card
30 yard line= No Fun Friday time, and no stamp on touchdown card
40 yard line= No Fun Friday or stamp on touchdown pass
               plus behavior report/thinking map
Severe disruptions= Immediate call to parents, time away from class,
and /or office visit with principal

A second aspect of the consequence system will address the
classwork/homework component. Students will also receive a penalties when
assignments are not turned in on time. Any student with missing or
unfinished work that has not been completed by Friday will not
receive any "Fun Friday" time or stamps on their touchdown cards. At the end
of each nine weeks, any missing
or incomplete assignment will result in a zero.

In their agenda book you will be able to track their behavior. It is
certainly in your child’s best interest that we work together with regard to
his or her academic and social progress. I will strive to keep you informed
of your child’s progress and I hope that I have your support in return.
