Guidance program

I've started our Mendez Too Good for Violence program in grades 1-5. The
Mendez violence prevention curriculum consists of four interconnected
strands. The topics handled are in a positive, age appropriate manner, using
cooperative learning, role-playing and other experiential teaching
techniques.

The model is CARE-
Conflict resolution
Anger management
Respect for self and other
Effective communication

In kindergarten each week I read a book and discuss issues associated with
kindergarten, getting along, friends, tattling, helping others and etc.

We are still filling others buckets by doing nice and kind things. We share
each guidance time what we have done for others to "fill their bucket!"

Guidance classes are every other week. I have a K-2 week and then the next
week is grades 3-5. I enjoy all of my classes. It's so great to see all of
our students working together and growing into caring little people.
