Character Counts! Our first character pillar is Responsibility. Responsibility is based on obligation. In a world full of choices, responsibility prompts individuals to be accountable for who they are and what they do. A responsible person is accountable for their decisions-good and bad. A responsible person knows that they have many jobs to do and others are counting on them to get the job done. When we try our best and work hard to do what we are suppose to do, we show responsibility. Talk with your child about responsiblity at home and school. I'll be talking about responsibility in my guidance classes.
Character building is captured in the acronym T.E.A.M. (teach, enforce, advocate and model). We teach character by promoting values and developing ethical virutes that make a good person. A person that is responsible, respectful, caring, trustworthy, fair and a good citizen. Kids should understand what these traits look like. What you allow, you encourage. At Stoner Creek, we relentlessly advocate our commitment to good character so our students have no doubt what we want for them and expect from them. We instill positive values by modeling the virtues we want to see in all of our students. Our goal is to make good thoughts and conduct a matter of daily habit. At Stoner Creek, Character Counts!!
