11/20 The "Real" Benchmark test and finish week 6 warmups.

11/17 Week 6 Tuesday warmup. We went to the computer lab and played "Who
wants to be a Millionaire?" by solving multistep inequalities.
11/16 Week 6 Monday warmup. We took notes on solving multistep
INEQUALITIES. The last few minutes of class were spent making final
corrections to our equations tests.
11/13 Equations tests were returned and reviewed. We went to the computer
lab to finish last week's assignments from skills tutor, "Two step
Equations" and "Equations". HOMEWORK: Finish making corrections to the
equation test. This will be another grade on Monday.
11/12 We took the second six weeks benchmark and an equations test.
11/11 We worked on solving equations with variables on both sides.

11/9 We tried playing bingo again and took notes on solving equations with

10/27 Week 3 Tuesday warmup. Mrs. Smith checked our homework and then
allowed us to make corrections. We used the whiteboards to practice solving
distributive property equations. Homework tonight is a worksheet with a
column each of one step equations, two step equations, and distributive
property equations. Six weeks test tomorrow. All makeup work is also due in
class tomorrow. It will not be accepted after Wednesday.
10/26 Week 3 Monday warmup. The equations test and many papers were
returned and reviewed. We made corrections to our test. Homework tonight
is
a worksheet with a column each of one step equations, two step equations,
and
distributive property equations. Do only the one step and two step
equations. Six weeks test Wednesday.
10/23 Turned in homework. Equations test.
10/22 We did week 2 Wednesday and Thursday warmup and also turned in
Tuesday's homework. We took notes on combining like terms. Homework is
left
side of worksheet. Equations test tomorrow. Six weeks test Wednesday.
10/21 We went to the Barter to see Tom Sawyer!
10/20 Week 2 Tuesday warmup. Practiced solving equations with distributive
property worksheet. Finish for homework.
10/19 Week 2 Monday warmup. Completed notes on distributive property and
played battleship.
10/16 Week 1 Friday warmup. Notes on distributive property.
10/15 We did week 1 Thursday for a warmup today and reviewed the work from
yesterday.
10/14 We did Week 1 Wednesday for a warmup today. We also did prealgebra
textbook page 350 problems 1-38 on our own paper, showing work.
10/13 We did a challenging warm up today to help us prepare for the EXPLORE
Test in November. Please do both Monday and Tuesday. Turn it in tomorrow
if you were unable to finish it during class. We went to the computer lab
and worked on two step equations. If you were unable to finish the study
island assignment during class, please finish it at home, print off your
score and turn it in as soon as possible.
10/8 We did math detective cases 30-36 as a warm up. We reviewed solving
one step inequalities and took the second test after which we took notes on
solving two step equations.
10/7 We did math detective cases 23-29 as a warm up activity. Yesterday's
test was returned and we were able to make corrections to it individually
and
as a group. We wrote a reflection on what we learned from making these
corrections. Tomorrow we will do another assignment with solving one step
inequalities that will be counted as a test grade.
10/6 Math Detective cases 17-22 for warm up activity. We went to the
computer lab and did some review activities on solving one step inequalities
and to get caught up on computer lab assignments. We returned to the
classroom to take our test on solving one step inequalities. Math detective
worksheet is homework if you were unable to finish it during class.
10/5 We watched a video on solving equations then followed up with a
worksheet. We also watched a video on solving inequalities and followed it
with a worksheet also. Inequalities test tomorrow.
9/25 We spent the entire class period in the computer lab. We did two
activities in Brainpop- watching the movies and emailing the graded quiz to
Mrs. Smith for "Inequalities" and "Graphing and solving inequalities". We
then went to Mrs. Smith's website, clicked on "Inequalities Links". We
watched the videos available there and played the concentration game. After
that, we went to myskillstutor.com and completed the "Solving one step
inequalities" lesson there. Students were given the last five minutes to
check their grades on powerschool and were encouraged to take care of
missing assignments.
9/24 We solved more addition and subtraction inequalities today on a
worksheet as a warmup. Watch out for the five "dirty rat" problems! We
checked our homework and reviewed challenging problems. We then practiced
solving multiplication and division inequalities on whiteboards from
workbook
page 37.
9/23 We solved simple addition and subtraction inequalities today on a
worksheet for a warm up and also practiced them on the whiteboards.
Homework
is workbook page 36, problems 1-26. Please show work and place the graph
directly underneath the problem. We also began taking notes on solving
inequalities by multiplying and dividing.
9/22 We solved addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
equations
on a worksheet (B). We took notes on solving addition and subtraction
inequalities. We did a few problems from workbook page 35 on whiteboards
as
practice.
9/21 We solved addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
equations
on a worksheet (J). Please be careful on this one. About half of the
problems are "backwards" subtraction and division equations. Please turn it
in tomorrow if you were unable to finish it during class. We then took notes
on graphing inequalities.
9/18 We solved addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
equations
on a worksheet and then played bingo with the answers.
9/17 We made corrections to the six weeks test and wrote a five paragraph
essay reflecting on what we've learned this six weeks. It is due tomorrow
if
you were unable to finish during class.
9/16 We turned in corrections to workbook page 20 problems 27-50 for an
improved grade. We reviewed any difficult problems before we took the six
weeks test.
9/15 We turned in last night's homework for a grade. Students are
encouraged to make corrections to the problems they missed on another paper,
staple to the top of their original paper, and turn it back in for a better
grade. It must be turned in by tomorrow. We went to the computer lab and
practiced solving one step equations by multiplying, dividing, adding, and
subtracting. Please visit the equations links on the "Class Links" page.
Six Weeks test is tomorrow, and all make up work is due tomorrow.
9/14 Students did workbook page 20, problems 1,2,3,5,10,11,14,15,16, and 21
as a warmup. We practiced solving multiplication and division equations on
whiteboards. We then wrote in our planners that all makeup work is due by
Wednesday. The six weeks test will also be Wednesday. Homework for tonight
is workbook page 20 problems 27-50 on own paper; show work.
9/11 Students were given an opportunity to complete and make corrections to
workbook page 19, problems 1,2,5,7,9,10,13, and 14. This is homework if you
were unable to finish it in the time given during class. We then spent the
remainder of the class taking notes on solving multiplication and division
equations.
9/10 Students completed Math Detective worksheet cases 8-16 as a warm up.
We then practiced solving addition and subtraction equations on
whiteboards. Students were given the last 10 minutes of class to do the
addition and subtraction equations on workbook page 19. It is homework if
students did not turn it in before the end of class. All make up work is
due by next Wednesday, September 16. Six weeks tests will also be on
Wednesday, September 16.
9/9 Students completed Math Detective worksheet cases 1-7 as a warm up. We
then finished taking notes on solving addition and subtraction equations.
9/8 Students turned in the integer packet after difficult problems were
reviewed. Students also took the integer test. We were also able to begin
taking notes on solving addition equations.
9/4 Students were given the entire period to work on an integer review
packet. The packet is homework if students were unable to finish it during
class. The packet will be graded for correct answers to math problems, not
according to the coloring or correct riddle answer. Students should skip
problem 4 on "Why is it good to have holes in your t-shirts?" The integer
test next Tuesday, September 8 will be over integer addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division as well as order of operations and evaluating
expressions with integers. Students will be allowed to use their notes from
their math journals, but will not be allowed to use a calculator on the
test.
9/3 We checked last night's homework. We took notes on the coordinate
plane
and practiced plotting points on a worksheet. The worksheet is homework if
you were unable to finish it during class. Make sure that you turn the
worksheet in first thing in the morning. Thank you!
9/2 We clarified the rule for subtracting integers and also learned the
rules for multiplying and dividing integers. We also practiced in our
workbook on pages eight and nine. Homework: Workbook page 12 problems 1-15.
Please be sure to always show work. The integer test next Tuesday,

8 will be over integer addition, subtraction, multiplication and division as
well as order of operations and evaluating expressions with integers.
9/1 We spent the entire class period in the computer lab. We explored the
Integer Links on this website, viewing powerpoints and practicing adding and
subtracting integers. The adding and subtracting integers lesson on
myskillstutor.com is for a grade. Please complete it, print off your grade,
and turn it in if you were unable to finish it during class today.
8/31 We did a worksheet on classifying sets of numbers as a warm up. This
is homework if you did not finish it during class. We took notes on adding
integers and practiced on the whiteboards. We also practiced comparing
rational numbers.
8/28 A special thank you to all the parents who helped with the team
dinner! It was wonderful to meet everyone! We watched three brief video
clips on ordering rational numbers, classifying sets of numbers, and
absolute
value. We did workbook pages 5 and 6 as classwork.
8/27 We did another order of operations worksheet as a warm up
activity. "River Rapids" is homework if you were unable to finish it
during
class. Yesterday's quiz was returned to the students and they were able to
make corrections. Students are encouraged to look at the papers in their
folders at any time. We finished taking notes on exploring real numbers and
began workbook page 5. We will finish it for a warm up activity tomorrow.
8/26 We did an order of operations worksheet as a warm up activity. "Good
owl time" is homework if you were unable to finish it during class. We then
took the quiz on variables and expressions, order of operations, and
evaluating expressions. After all students were finished with the quiz, we
then began taking notes on Exploring Real Numbers. We will finish the notes
tomorrow.
8/25 We did page 2 in our workbook as a warmup and made corrections. We
then went to the computer lab and watched the two videos available
under "Class Links". The students then went to www.myskillstutor.com and
worked on the "Evaluating Expressions" lesson. The quiz has been postponed
until tomorrow.
8/24 We did page 1 in our workbook as a warmup. We practiced evaluating
expressions on whiteboards and as a group with a dice activity. We will
finish the activity tomorrow as a warm up. Quiz tomorrow on variables and
expressions, order of operations, and evaluating expressions on Tuesday.
8/20 We used the Glencoe Algebra workbooks and did problems 9-26 on page
1.
We took notes on Evaluating Expressions. Be prepared for quiz on variables
and expressions, order of operations, and evaluating expressions on Monday
or
Tuesday.
8/19 We made corrections to yesterday's warmup. We used whiteboards to
practice order of operations problems.
8/18 We did a 16 question warm up reviewing what we have learned for
variables and expressions. We went to the computer lab and viewed the
Brainpop Order of Operations video and took the quiz for a grade. Students
then went to studyisland.com and practiced order of operations on that
website as well. We also viewed two videos on order of operations on Mrs.
Smith's math help links as well as practice choosing which operation to
perform first in a given problem. Five minute multiplication drill C.
8/17 We did a quick warm up on variables and expressions. The rules and
procedures test was returned and corrections were made. The test was filed
in students' portfolios. Notes were taken in math journal on order of
operations. We will practice order of operations tomorrow.
8/14 We corrected mistakes on yesterday's worksheet and turned it in for a
grade. We also took the test on rules and procedures. We played bingo with
variables and expressions.
8/13 The class bellringer reviewed procedures. Test on rules and

learned how to change a fraction grade into a percentage grade. We put our
portfolios together. We prepared our journals for the year and took a few
notes on variables and expressions. Five minute multiplication test at the
end of class. We will finish notes tomorrow and begin practice problems.
8/11 We took a beginning of course test to assess students' existing math
skills. Please return both copies of the procedures if you did not do so
today.
