I am a native of Birmingham, Alabama. I graduated from the University of Montevallo, one of the best
kept secrets of the South, with a bachelor's degree in English and journalism and a master's degree in
English and education. Last year, I received my Masters plus Thirty certification. I have taught for
eighteen years, sixteen in the Memphis City School system. I am a member of Sigma Tau Delta English
Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, as well as Tennessee Council and Shelby
County-Memphis Council of Teachers of English (TCTE and SMCTE). I live in Midtown with a menagerie
that currently includes two Chow Chows, one rabbits, three fish, and a snail.
My mission is to ensure that my students are fully prepared for the rigors of college writing, especially
the literary analysis, and that they have the background in British literature to feel confident discussing
literature with their contemporaries.
