FINAL EXAMS A DAY FRI 5/23 AND B DAY 5/27. Students were given a study sheet with terms to know. Please have this completed for our review on Wed 5/21 and Thurs 5/22. Exams will count 10% of the second semester average. Please finish strong and study for your exam!

Today in class we finished our discussion of the Civil War. I checked the study guide for the exam and we reviewed in class with a review game. Now the rest is up to you...STUDY FOR YOUR EXAMS. I know that you can do it!!! Be sure to bring a pencil to class for exams. I will not be loaning pencils on that day. In addition, be sure to have your book ready to turn in.
Mon 5/19 and Tues 5/20
Today in class we finished our Ch 15 Road to the Civil War. In addition, students were given a pre-assessment over the Civil War as well as a handout for their notebooks. We will continue with the powerpoint next class period. We will also be reviewing for our final next class period. Students should have their study sheet complete that day.
Fri 5/16
Today in class we worked with partners over Ch 15 Road to the Civil War. If students did not finish the 8 events they need to complete for homework. In addition, our final Focus Questions 71-75 are due next class period. Students had an opportunity to turn them in today complete for 5 bonus points. Students were given their review sheet for the exam last period. It needs to be completed for our review in class on Wed and Thurs of next week.

Today in class students worked in groups over the reform movement. Students performed their skit in class for participation. Everyone did a great job. Students need to read Ch 15 Bleeding Kansas and Dred Scot decision.
Mon 5/12 and Tues 5/13
Today in class we reviewed our quiz taken last week. Most students did very well. We also discussed outline of Ch 13 and review workbook pages 35-36 . Students were given group assignments for Ch 14 Reform Movement. Students are to read about their assigned topic in Ch 14 for next class period.

Today in class all students completed their Ch 13 outline. Students turned in Focus Questions 66-70. Students were to complete workbook pages 35-36 for homework if they did not finish in class.

Today in class we reviewed for our quiz over Ch 10,11,and 12. Students took their quiz and then worked on an outline for Ch 13. This needs to be completed by Friday for both classes. Focus Question 66-70 are due on Friday for both classes also.

Today in class we reviewed Ch 12. We graded our workbook pages 33-34 in classs. The quiz over Ch 10,11,and 12 was postponed until next class period. Students need to study for their quiz by reviewing their notebooks. In addition, study island assignment is due Wed for A classes and Thurs for B classes.

Today in class we graded workbook pages 31-32. Students were assigned workbook pages 33-34 for next class period. We will be having a Quiz over Ch 10,11, and 12 next class period. Students are encouraged to review their notebooks for the quiz.

Today in class students received their mid-term reports. In addition, we finished p. 4-20 over the elections of 1824 and 1828. We also discussed Andrew Jackson and his presidency. Students were assgined work book pages 31-32 for next class period.

Today in class we reviewed workbook pages 29-30. We also added a few notes over Ch 10. We updated our page numbers in our notebook for an upcoming quiz. A-2 class we assigned the completion of p. 4-20. Students were asked to read Ch 11.

Today in class we reviewed our Map Study p. 314 and 318. Students were also assigned workbook pages 29-30 for next class period. Focus Question 61-65 will also be due next class period.
Wed 4/24 and Thurs 4/25
Today in class we graded our map p. 4-15 in class. We also viewed a video clip over factory life in the1830s. Students finished their group work over the story we started last class period. Students were assigned Map Study p. 314 & p. 316 and to read p. 320 over the Missouri Compromise for next class period.
Mon 4/19 and Tues 4/20
Today in class we finished our p. 4-13 La Territory and graded it in class. Students took a Vocabulary Quiz over Ch 9. They were assigned homework over a 2 sided map of the Louisiana Purchase. Students should color the La Purchase green, all unorganized territory orange and all rivers blue. In addition, students worked in groups reading a story about early working conditions in Lowell, MA. Students were to arrive at a consensus about what life they would have chosen.
Fri 4/18 Stack Day
Today in class I returned the graded project sheets. We discussed them in class and I also returned Focus Questions 56-60 and Ch 9 Vocabulary. Students did a great job with their pictures on their Vocabulary. We will be having a Vocabulary Quiz next class period over Ch 9 Vocabulary. We also started p. 4-13 with questions over the LA Territory and the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Today in class we reviewed our TCAP practice exercises. Student began reading and taking notes over Chapter summaries.

Today in class groups finished their project presentations. Again, they were great. I am so proud of all the students that worked hard on the project. I am so lucky to have such wonderful and talented students. Students turned in their vocabulary p. 4-9 over Ch9. If you did not, make sure you turn it in next class period for a late grade. In addition, we began p. 4-10 with TCAP reveiw. Please finish this in class if you did not finish. Focus 56-60 is due next class period and dont forget about Study Island. Complete the 5 Geography lessons with 10 questions each. Dont forget to review the lessons.

Today in class students started presenting their powerpoint presentations over their projects. They were incredible! We will continue this next class period. Keep up the good work.

Today in class we discussed the Election of 1796 and reviewed our graphic organizer over political parties. We also completed an in class assignment over the Adams' Presidency.

Today in class students took their quiz over Ch 8. Students completed a graphic organizer over Politicial Parties.Students need to prepare for their presentations on Friday.
Fri 3/28
Today was our first stack day. It was a huge success. Students met all classes today. We reviewed for our quiz which was postponed until next class period. Study!!!!
Wed 3/26 and Thurs 3/27
Students cleaned out their last nine weeks folder and received a new table of contents and clock partners p. 4-2. We worked together with partners and completed p. 4-3 and 4-4 over Ch 8 p. 256-265. We will be having a quiz over this material on Friday(all classes). Study. In addition Focus 51-55 will be due on Friday.
Mon 3/24 and Tues 3/25
Today in class we went to the library for our final research on our Project. Student will be presenting their PowerPoint on Friday April 4th. Any further research will need to be done outside of class. If you are having problems please ask for help NOW. Focus Question 51-55 will be due on stack day Friday 3/28. Student will also need to complete their Economics first 3 lessons in Study Island by the end of the day Friday.

We reviewed p. 3-28 and took our test. Students dont forget Study Island and your group project. Work on both during break. Have a Happy Easter too!!!

Today in class we reviewed p. 3-26, 3-27 and 3-28. Test is scheduled for next class period. STUDYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! If for some reason we are not in school on Friday. students need to be prepared to take the test the DAY we return from break!

Today in class students went to the library to do research for their group project for the first half of the class period. We also reviewed our p. 3-25. Students need to have p. 3-26,27,28 complete for next class period.
Thurs 2/28 and Fri 2/29
Today all classes went to the library to do reseach for their group project over the Bill of Rights. Students also turned in their Focus Questions 46-50. The study sheet for the test was given out. Due date and test date changes were explained. Students need to make sure they are working outside of class on their group project.
Mon 2/25 and Tues 2/26
Today in class we finished our p. 3-25 in class. We will discuss this on Fri and Monday. Student were given time to work on their Constitutional Project in their groups. We will be working in the library on Wed and Thurs. Students need to have their plan of action and tasks assignments. Focus Questions 46-50 will be due in class next period. Students were given p. 3-26,3-27, and 3-28 to be completed next Tues 3-4 and Wed 3-5. Test Ch 7 and the Constitution will be next Thurs 3-6 and Fri 3-7. We need to finish the nine weeks strong. I believe in you and your abilities.
Thurs 2/21 and Fri 2/22
Today in class we finished our page 3-24 in all classes. Students were asked to read p. 214-228 Civics in Action. Students began group work on p. 3-25 which we will complete next class period. Students need to complete the graphs on p. 217,218,222,223,225. Students were also given information over their project and their group members. We will be working on this for the next few weeks both in and out of class.
Tues 2/19 and Wed 2/20
Today in class we finished our p. 3-23 over checks and balances. We also did an activity in class over the ratification of the Constitution and the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. Students not in class today will need to makeup assignment p. 211 Section Assessment 1-5.
Tues 2/12 and Thurs 2/14
Today in class students worked on a Boggle strategy with group and partner work. Students completed p. 3-23 over the government. We will finish reviewing this next class period. Students were assgined reading of p. 209-211 and should be able to tell describe the differences between the Federalists and Anti- Federalists.
Fri 2/8 and Mon 2/11
Today in class students turned in their Focus Questions 41-45. Students were given a quiz over Ch 7. Sections 1 and 2- the A of C and the Constitutional Convention. Students were asked to read p. 204-208 for next class period.
Tues 2/5 and Wed 2/6
Today in A-2 class we reviewed our graphic organizer and performed two skits over the Constitutional Convention. In all other classes we finished our graphic organizer and took our notebook quiz. Focus Question 41-45 are due next class period(including A-2). Students also need to study for a quiz over Ch 7 Sections 1 and 2.

Today in A-2 we finished our notes and reviewed p.3-17. Students were assigned a graphic organizer over p. 196-202. In all other classes we reviewed our graphic organizer and performed two skits over the Constitutional Convention. Students are to read p. 203-208 for homework. Students, dont forget to pick up the extra credit form in class and go vote with your parents/guardians/relatives on Super Fat Tuesday Feb 5th.

Today in A classes we discussed the President's State of the Union address. In A-2 we finished our notes over Ch 7. In A-4 we reviewed our p. 3-17 over the Aof C. Students were assigned reading and a graphic organizer over pages 196-202 which is due next class period.
Mon 1/28 and Tues 1/29
Today in class we watched a video in A-2 where we had some technical problems. We took notes in A-4 over Ch 7 and the A of C. Students worked with partners to complete p. 3-17 over this information. In both B classes we took notes and discussed the President's State of the Union address.
Thurs 1/24 and Frid 1/25
Today in class we reviewed p. 3-13 and graded our workbook p. 21-22 (p. 3-14). Students took their test over Ch 6. Students were assigned reading of p. 189-195.
Tues 1/22 and Wed 1/23
Today in class students turned in Focus Question 36-40. We also reviewed p. 3-11 in class. Students from A day worked on Guided Reading/ Victory at Yorktown in class. Students in A day also completed workbook pages 21-22. In B day we discussed p. 3-11 and started a Hangman game over p 181-185. Students need to complete their study guide for the test next class period.
Thurs 1/17 and Fri 1/18
Today in class we reviewed our Map p. 3-9. Students worked in class on p. 3-11 War in the South. Focus Questions 36-40 are due next class period. Ch 6 Test has been scheduled for A day 1/22 and B day 1/23. Students were given a study sheet in class today and this will need to be completed on the day of the test.
Tues 1/15 and Wed 1/16
Today in class we reviewed and graded our Unscramble/ ID p. 3-7. Students took a quiz over Ch 6 Sect 1 and 2 p. 3-8. Students were also assigned a map p. 3-9. Students need to do both sides.
Fri 1/11 and Mon 1/14
Today in class we graded p. 3-5 Chart over the Revolution. We also viewed and took notes over Battle Tactics p. 3-6. In addition, we did an Unscramble/ ID activity over p. 162-175. Students will be having a quiz next class period. They will also need to bring their colored pencils.
Wed 1/9 and Thurs 1/10
Today in class we reviewed p. 3-4 Early Days of the War. Students worked in class to complete p. 3-5 Chart over Revolutionary War. Students were also assigned reading of p.170-175.
Mon 1/7 and Tues 1/8
Students received their projects and Focus Questions from last grading period. We discussed these and reviewed Ch 5 Reading Guide. Students cleaned out the contents of their notebooks and started a new table of contents. Students received new clock partners. Students worked on an assignment in class today p. 3-4. We will be finishing it next class period. Students need to make sure to read p. 162-169.
Fri 12/14 and Mon 12/15
Today in class students received their exam grades and turned in their Focus Questions 31-35. We watched a movie to celebrate the end of EXAMS!!!!!!
Wed 12/12 and Thurs 12/13
We reviewed the first few minutes for our exam. Students took their exam in class. Focus 31-35 will be due next class period- Friday the 14th for B day and Monday the 17th for A day.
Mon 12/10 and Tues 12/11
Today in class we reviewed p. 2-26 over the Dof I. In addition, students turned in their Song project today. Many students took advantage of extra credit and performed their song in class. Students are also to review the following pages in their textbook ( 19,26,30,40,73,79,83,85,89,91,106,122,and 144)and complete their study guide crossword in preparation for the exam next class period. Focus Question 31-35 will be due on Friday 12/14 for B class and Monday 12/17 for A class.
Thurs 12/6 and Fri 12/7
Today in class students in B classes received their review sheet for their exam next week. They need to complete the crossword on the back and reveiw the chapter assessments at the end of each chapter 1-5. Most of the exam will be over maps, charts, tables, timelines etc.. In addition, we went over the quiz we had taken as well as our index cards. Students were given homework over rewording excerpts of the Declaration of Independence. This will be due in class next class period.
Tues 12/4 and Wed 12/5
Today in class we reviewed the Boston Massacre with some questions on the screen. Students also took a quiz over Ch 5 Sections 1 and 2. Later we did an index card activity over p. 142-146. Students not in class today need to do the Section Assessment on p. 146 1-5. I also did the project check today in class. Students in A classes also received their study sheet for the exam next week. Students need to study the terms as well as the chapter assessments at the end of each chapter 1-5. Most of the exam will be over maps, charts, graphs, timelines etc. Students in A2 were given homework over rewording excerpts of the Declaration of Independence. This will not be due until Tue since A2 will not meet on Friday due to the schoolwide basketball game.
Fri 11/30 and Mon 12/3
Today in class we reviewed our workbook page 19 and graded it in class. Students also turned in their Focus Questions 26-30. In addition, we did an
activity in class simulating taxation without representation. Students need to review the first two sections of Chapter 5 for a quiz next class period. Students also will have a check date on their project next class period. Students need to have the topic, as well as the name of the song, they will use for their project.
Wed 11/29 and Thurs 11/30
Today in class I checked the foldable over p. 132-137. Students not in class were to complete p. 137 Section Assessment for make up assignment. In addition B-2 class reviewed with some notes and a class activity. Students are to complete p. 19 in their workbooks for next class period.Focus Questions 26-30 will be due on Fri 11/30 for B class and Mon 12/3 for A class.
Mon 11/27 and Tues 11/28
Today in class Unit 2 test was returned. Students will be able to make up or retake the test during RICA this week. In addition, Project- Song was assigned. The song will be due on Dec10 for B day and Dec 11 for A day. Students worked on a foldable in class over p. 132-137 . If students did not finish then they need to complete this for homework.

Today in class we reviewed for our test and students took their Unit 2 test. No homework was assigned for over the break. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am thankful for such wonderful students!!!!

Today students worked on p. 2-16 Political cartoon and p. 2-17 Guided reading. Students need to study for their upcoming test on Tues.

Today in class we discussed our p. 2-14 and began our terms playing hangman over p. 114-119. Student not in class today need to do p. 119 Section Assessment for make up work. In addition, students turned in their colony map.Students also received their mid-term grades. B Day students also did a guided reading over the French and Indian war and received notes to study for the test on Monday.

Today in class students took their notebook quiz. They were also given their study sheet for Ch 3 and 4. It can be turned in complete on the day of the test for 10 bonus pts. Students worked on p. 2-14 in class. We will finish it next class period. The colony map is due next class period also.

Today in class we discussed our homework pages 105 and 106. In addition we finished our discussion of our foldable. Students were assigned to read p. 110-114. There will be a notebook quiz next class period. Tues 11/06 and Wed 11/07
Today in class we reviewed our Quiz Ch 3. In addition we started discussing our foldable over p. 102-109. Students were asked to study the pictures on p 105. and answer the questions on p. 106 over the Map Study. Focus 21-25 due next class period

Today in class we reviewed our Focus Question 16-20. In addition students received their grades on the colony talk shows. Student took their Ch 3 Quiz and were assigned homework which was a foldable over p. 102-109. If you were absent today make arrangements to come in next RICA class to make up your quiz. You will also need to do the section assessment p. 109.

Today in B-2 we reviewed for our quiz over Ch3. Due to the fact that B-4 did not meet last class period, they reviewed their video's and took notes over Ch 3. B- Day Ch 3 Quiz was moved to Monday 11/05.

Today in class student received their graded essays. We discussed ways to improve the essays in the future. In addition, we reviewed our talk shows by watching the video in class. Students were to complete their notes over each region. We will be having a quiz over Chapter 3 next class period. Be sure to study your notes as wll as pages 2-3 and 2-4.
Thurs 10/25 and Fri 10/26
Today in class student presented their colony talk shows. Students turned in their self-evalutation over the talk show as well as their Focus Question 16-20. Students were supposed to read in Ch 3 and fill in any gaps in their notes. We will be reviewing the video next class period. Students should be preparing for a quiz over Ch 3.
Tues 10/23 and Wed 10/24
Today in class students worked in their groups over their colony talk shows. Students should have their role ready and their show ready by next class period. Focus question 16-20 are due next class period also.
Fri 10/19 and Mon 10/22
Today in class students turned in their 5 paragraph essay over the DVD America's Heart and Soul. I also checked homework p. 2-4 over Roanake and Jamestown. We went over this in class.We also split into our groups to start our colony talk shows. We will be working on those the next few class periods. Students were to read about their section in Chapter 3 for homework.
Wed 10/17 and Thurs 10/18
Today in class we finished our DVD that we started last class period. Essays will be due next class period(FRI or MON). In addition, we cleaned out our folders, went over our Unit Test,and made new clock partners for this nine weeks. Students also received their Reading Guide/Colony chart p. 2-3. Finally students were assigned reading of p. 71-75 and completion of p. 2-4 Roanake/Jamestown.
Mon 10/15 and Tues 10/16
Welcome Back from Break. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did. Today in class we watched a video, "America's Heart and Soul". Students were asked to take notes and choose one individual from the video that they admired. They were to give 3 reasons why they admired this individual and to write it in a five paragraph essay. This will be due for A class on Friday and B class on Monday. This can be handwritten or typed. Please use the format that I listed on the board. Your essay must include an introduction, three supporting paragraphs expanding on your reasons, and a conclusion. Be sure to state your reasons in both your introduction and conclusion.

Today in class we finished our discussion of Chapter 2 with some notes on the overhead. Students took their Unit 1 Test. No homework was assigned for over the break. I HOPE YOU HAVE A SAFE AND FUN FALL BREAK!!!!
Tues 9/25 and Wed 9/26
Today in class we reviewed p. 25 Guided Reading. Students also turned in their Focus Questions 11-15. We worked in groups/partners over the Spanish Empire in the Americas chart. Students need to complete this on their own if they did not complete it in class. Students not in class today need to do the make-up assignment p. 55 1-5 Section Assessment. Test over Unit 1 is scheduled for next class period. Students need to be sure to have their notebook in class for the test.
Fri 9/21 and Mon 9/24
Today in class we went over our quiz that we took last class period. I also checked homework p.25 which was a guided reading over Ch 2 Sect 1 and 2. I also checked the explorer chart that was due today. We discussed Sect1 and most of Sect.2. Focus Questions 11-15 are due next class period. Unit Test over Ch 1 and 2 will be in Thurs 9/27 and Fri 9/28. Students need to be studying their notebook. They will be allowed to use their notebook on the test.
Wed 9/19 and Thurs 9/20
Today in class student finished their poster presentations over Native American cultures. We took a quiz over Ch1. Students were assigned homework and given class time to complete p.25 which was a guided reading activity over Ch 2 sections 1 and 2(p. 36-49 in textbook). In addition, students were reminded that the explorer chart is due next class period.
Mon 9/17 and Tues 9/18
Today in class students that did not turn in Ch 1 vocab had the opportunity to turn it in using their second chance pass. Students made their presentations with their posters over Native American cultures. Due to time constraints, the quiz over Ch 1 has been postponed until next class period. Students need to study their vocabulary and pages 16-23 in their class notebook. Students were also assigned reading of Sect 1 and 2 of Ch 2 p. 36-49.
Wed 9/12 and Fri 9/14
Today in class we discussed the Focus Questions 6-10 which were handed back. Students turned in their Ch 1 Vocabulary. They also worked in their groups on their Native American cultures. Students will be having a quiz next class period over Chapter 1.
Mon 9/10 and Tues 9/11
Today in class we reviewed by having a quiz over the civilizations from workbook page 12. We did some Mayan Math in class. We also took notes over p. 27-29. Finally we split up into groups to work on a Native American poster. We will continue this next class period. I did collect Focus Question 6-10 today. Ch 1 Vocabulary is due next class period.
Thurs 9/6 and Fri 9/7
Today in class we reviewed our lesson from last class period with an overhead activity. I checked workbook p. 12 in class and we discussed this. Focus Question 6-10 will be due next class period. I also explained Ch 1 Vocabulary. This will be due next Wed (A day) or Fri(B day).
A/B Tues 9/5 and Wed 9/6
Today in class students received their mid-term report grades. The form will be sent home tomorrow. Today in class students worked on their reading guide/pre-test p. 16. We also worked with a partner over p. 17 Early Peoples. Students were assigned Reading p. 21-25 and workbook p. 12 for next class period.
A/B Thurs 8/30 and Fri 8/31
Today in class students took their notebook quiz. Most students did well! If you did not, be sure to work harder on your organization. We started the presentations of our Geography Vocabulary and will finish next class period. In addition, students were given a Reading Guide for chapter 1 and will need to complete it prior to reading. Please use pencil so it can be changed after your reading. Students were assigned reading of p. 16-20

Today in class students turned in their Focus Questions 1-5. I also checked homework, p. 12 Map Study over textbook pages 1,3,5,7,8 which we discussed in class. Students worked in groups over p. 14 Geography Terms which we will present on Thursday. In addition, we will be having a notebook quiz on Thursday. Students need to get their notebooks in order.

Today in class we reviewed our quiz over the states. We discussed our homework GTKYT and students were assigned reading of p. 1-8 in their textbook. In addition, students need to complete the Map Study on p. 1,3,5,7,8 for next class period.
A/B Wed 8/22 and Thurs 8/23
Today in class I checked homework p. 9 over latitude and longitude and time zones. Students took a quiz p. 10 over their states, map skills and latitude and longitude. After the quiz, students were assigned homework which was getting to know their textbook.p. 11
A/B Day Mon/Tues 8/20 and 8/21
Today in class we reviewed our map over directions. We finished our discussion of latitude and longitude. Students were given homework to complete p.9 both sides. In addition, students need to study for the quiz next class period. The quiz will include state locations and abbreviations, map skills and directions, as well as latitude and longitude.
A/B Day Thurs/Fri 8/16 and 8/17
Today in class we reviewed with the Game of the States(p. 7). The winner in each class will receive 5 pts added to their quiz. In addition we discussed directions and map skills. Students completed p. (8) Directions/TN Map in class. Students need to be studying for their quiz next week. A class will be Wed 8/22 and B- Day Thurs 8/23. The quiz will include state locations and two letter abbreviations, map skills, and finding latitude and longitude. Students need to study!
A/B Day Tue/Wed 8/14 and 8/15
Today in class students reviewed with a partner their state abbreviations and locations. Students were to color their map green for states they knew, yellow for states they kind of knew, and red for states they did not know. Hopefully all maps will be green soon. We also did a review game of the states which we will dicuss next class period. Students need to continue to study their states and two letter abbreviations for the upcoming quiz next week.
A/B Day Fri/Mon 8/10 and 8/13
Today in class we reviewed our History/Continent Quiz p.4 in the notebook. Students had their first Focus Question today. In addition, we traced a map of the contiguous states (p.5) and students were to complete a list of the two letter abbreviations and state names(p. 6) using this map. This will be due at the beginning of next class period.
A/B Day Wed/Thurs 8/8 and 8/9
Today in class students received their table of contents. We organized our notebooks and added p.2 Clock Partners p. 3 Learning Style Inventory and p. 4 History/Continent Quiz. Students need to study their state locations and abbreviations for a quiz next week. Students will also need their Focus Question sprial notebook for next class period.
A/B Day Mon / Tues 8/6 and 8/7
Today in class students received the class guidelines. We viewed a powerpoint presentation intruducing Mrs. Watts and reviewed classroom procedures and policies. Students were given an assginment for next class period. Students were to list on a 3 X 5 notecard the following: 1. Birthdate 2. Name 3. Class period 4. Goal for this school year 5. Hobbies 6. Something to help me remember them. In addition students were to complete their "I like list" with 20 items.

I would like to welcome you to class. I know that it will be an exciting and challenging year for allalof us.
It alIt always helps to know what is expected in each of your classes. I hope that you will find this inforinformation useful.
I. Requirements for Nine Weeks Grade
A. Basic Assignments- class participations, focus questions, and tests.
B. Other grades- homework assignments, class activities, and quizzes.
C. Projects/Reports- approximately 2 per nine weeks.
D. Notebook- this will be reviewed periodically to ensure each student is organized and completing work.
A) Basic Assignments
1. Class Participation- Participation will be given for work done in groups and class. Each participation will be worth 25 points. For each nine weeks there will be approximately 12 participation assignments totaling three 100 pt. grades.
2. Focus Questions- A question from the unit of study or a current event will be given each class period. The question for the day is to be copied from the board at the beginning of class while attendance is being taken. Students are to copy each question and answer it in their wireless or spiral notebook. These notebooks should remain in the classroom. Each question/answer will be worth 20 pts. For each nine weeks there will be approximately 20 questions and answers totaling four 100 pt. grades.
3. Test- A test will be taken in class at the end of each unit of study. Tests
will be a combination of questions including multiple choice, fill in
the blank, matching, short answer, and essay. Each test will be count
as three 100 pt. grades. If a student chooses to redo a test, they may do
so using their Second Chance Pass. Exams will be taken each semester. They will be all multiple choice and no retakes will be given.
Each semester exam will cover the content for that period and will count 10 percent of the students semester grade.
B) Homework assignments, activities, and quizzes- We will occasionally have quizzes over reading assignments or material covered in class. Some of these quizzes may be unannounced.
C) Projects and Reports- Projects will be announced approximately 2 weeks in
advance of the due date. Work must be done during the students own time, either at home, or when the student has available time in class. Each project will count as three 100 point grades.
D) Notebook- Each student will be required to keep a notebook for this class. The notebook should be a part of the students three ring binder .It should contain dividers
and pockets. A table of contents will be updated after each assignment that is to be placed in the notebook.
II. Make-Up Work Policy
Work will be accepted for excused absences only. When absent call a friend to get information about class work for that day. You may also check the website www.teacherweb.com/TN/WWMS/Champions. A student who is absent when work was assigned or collected will have one day for each day of absence to complete make-up work. It is the students responsibility to get the assignment.
II. Late Work- Late work will be accepted if a student chooses to use his or her Second Chance Pass. The assignment will only be accepted one day late with a deduction from the pass.
III. Extra Credit - Extra credit will be given in dire circumstances. It is very important for each student to complete all regular assignments and not to rely on extra credit.
IV. Class Rules
A. All county, school, and mini-school rules will apply in the classroom.
B. In addition to the above rules, the following six class rules will be followed.
1. Follow directions.
2. Come to class prepared and with all of your materials ( book, wireless or spiral notebook, folder, paper, pen, or pencil).
3. No food, candy, gum, or drinks without teacher permission.
4. Be on time.
5. No inappropriate language or gestures.
6. No writing or drawing on desks or other furniture.
