Recognizeing and writing numbers 0-12 out of order.

Recognize letters Aa-Kk out of order and their sounds.

There are plenty of thing you can do at home with your child in order to make this a successful year for him/her.  Here is a list of simple activities you are encouraged to do to help in learning.

* Practice sight words/popcorn words daily! Make it fun. The words are on the back of the weekly folder so you make work ahead as your child is able.

* Have your child read any little books he/she brings home.  Have a special area ready to store all the books they make and bring home so they can get them out and practice reading at any time.

*Practice counting to 100!  Our goal for the year is to count to 100 by 1's, 5's, 10's and to count to 20 by 2's.

*Work on tying shoes!!

*Writing your name the "Kindergarten way".  Writing your name with 1 capital letter and the rest lowercase letters.

*Practice independent skills such as zipping, buttoning, and snapping.

*Holding and cutting with scissors.

*Holding a pencil the correct way.

*Read for 20 minutes a day!  This can be anything, books, signs, cooking instructions, poems, etc.
