| Dear Parents,
We know that you want the best for your child. We know that you want
the school environment to be safe and free from violence. It is the policy
of the Morgan County School System to promote and maintain a learning
environment that is free from harassment, intimidation, bullying and
discrimination and one that promotes good character. We believe that
everyone has the right to feel safe. A safe and civil environment in school
is necessary for students to learn and achieve high academic standards.
That’s why, in addition to our character education program, we at Central
Elementary are beginning a school-wide anti-bullying program. We want our
school to be a violence-free and bully-free zone.
As part of this program, your child will be involved in a series of
lessons designed to help him or her:
• Define and understand what bullying is and isn’t
• Better understand bullying and its effects
• Develop empathy for the victims of bullying
• Learn when and how to report bullying
The next several up-coming Counselor’s Corner articles will be devoted to
bullying. Please contact me at 346-6683 if you have any questions or
concerns.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Kay Tippett
