Hello! My name is Marie Papini and I am so excited and truly honored to be
the 5-8 grade school counselor. I would like to tell you a little about
myself and then briefly go over the goals and objectives I have set up for
the students, their families, and the community as a whole. An Illinois
native, I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Western Illinois
University in 2005. From there I went straight to Mississippi State
University where I obtained my masters degree in School Counseling in May
2007. My family and I currently live in Murfreesboro, and I have a younger
sister, an older brother, a sister-in-law, and a brand new niece.
I have several years of experience as a camp counselor, working with diverse
groups of children. I have enjoyed all of these experiences and they have
allowed me to learn a lot about myself. I have also coached basketball,
volleyabll, and softball teams of all age groups and skill levels. Sports
are a true passion of mine, and I have been active in athletics since I was a
young child. In fact, I am the head coach for the WES softball team.
Look below to check out some of my personal goals in working with your
student!
As I have mentioned, I am very excited about the 2009-2010 school year at
Watertown Elementary School. My main goal in working with your student is
to encourage them to learn and experience life not just in the classroom,
but as individuals too. I believe that in order to reach your highest
potential, you have to be willing to work hard. This includes making
valiant efforts in the classroom, but also having the courage to learn about
yourself as a unique individual. So often you will find that learning
doesn't stop in the classroom. It is my goal to assist your student in all
areas of growth and development, and one way I will do this is through
classroom character education activities, which I hope to have on a monthly
basis.
In addition, I plan on doing extensive career discovery with our 8th grade
students. We will use a program called TCIDS, and I will go through this
website with the students at 3 different times in January/February. My goal
is to help begin getting our 8th graders to think about their future goals
and plans, both in high school and post high school.
I look forward to meeting with your student and have high hopes for the
school year. I would love to gain feedback from you as well. Hearing from
the parents and family of our students is what helps us to do our job more
efficiently. If there are any questions or concerns, please do not
hesitate to contact me. I am here not only for the student, but for the
family and community as well. We have several fun activities planned for
the school year, including a job fair, classroom activities, and leadership
opportunities for the students.
