I hope that everyone had a wonderful Fall Break! With all the upcoming
holidays, I know that this 9 weeks will feel even faster than the first.
Most of the students were able to participate in the AR Reward activities we
did on the last day before break. For those that did not, I encourage you to
get started early with your reading this nine weeks. We have changed the
requirements slightly as the year is progressing. We will be monitoring the
kids based on our Reading classes.
Blue Group (Gill) - must have 50 AR points to attend AR party
Yellow Group (Roman) - 18 books or 36 AR points
Red Group (Proctor) - 9 books or 18 AR points
Green Group (Morgan) - 9 books or 18 AR points
Students will need to have met the requirement PRIOR to the AR party day. We
will be doing AR party/Movie Munchie on Friday, December 18, 2009. For
students to participate, they must have all their books/points and work
completed by Thursday, December 17.
Our Fall Field Trip is coming up soon. We are going to the Adventure Science
Center on Friday, November 20. Please be on the lookout for information and
permission slips. Also, we will be needing some chaperones. If you are
interested, please begin to make plans for that day.
Lastly, this nine weeks, we are excited to be starting a new program in the
classrooms called Partners. We will be conducting Morning Meetings in the
classroom to help build community, set a positive tone for the day, increase
excitement about learning, and improve academic and social skills. There are
4 parts to our meetings: greeting, share, activity, and morning message. Be
sure to ask your student about what we are doing in our Morning Meetings!
