September 5, 2008
Dear Parents,
Just a few notes about upcoming events and activities.
No school next Thursday, September 11 but there will be parent
teacher conferences. Please note your conference time and try to attend if
at all possible at your assigned time.
If you can not make it please call the office and leave me a message.
Our fund raiser is still going on for a few more weeks. As of this
letter we have only raised $8.25 in the room. Hope you all are going to
surprise me at the end with a great big total. You can start writing totals
in agenda books and the office will announce our totals for the room every
day. Please help our school by selling the merchandise or you can make a
donation instead. Last year I had a few parents who chose not to sell the
things in the book but make a donation which goes toward our goal also.
I want to remind you about the snacks. I have put your name in the
agendas as a reminder when your week is. Remember you buy snacks for the
whole week for the class. We have had some great snacks come in: Little
Debbie snack cakes, cereal, cookies, chips, pretzels, popcorn just to name a
few items. No drinks please!
*** I would love for each child to bring in one apple next week for
Johnny Appleseed/Apple units we are doing this month. We will be graphing
apples, working on fractions, etc. If you can send in more than one (maybe
a bag) that would be great. We also need different kinds of apples: red,
green, yellow.
*** I am having trouble getting their spelling list back on
Thursdays. This will be our third test and I use the paper to test the
children and then file the paper for future reference. Please, please sign
the form (the spelling list) and return it by the next Thursday or before.
Thank you to the ones who have been doing this.
We finally got our math books in this week; we are still waiting on
some more things to come in. Thank you for your patience.
I want to let you know that every chapter I give a pretest. Please
don’t be alarmed if they do poorly on the pretest it is really a tool for me
to know where to start and how hard or easy to teach that chapter. We will
have a chapter test at the end of 1-2 weeks depending on the concept.
That’s where we definitely want to see improvement.
Everyone have a great weekend.
