HOw do the teachers and the school benefit from Parental Involvement? 1. improved teacher morale 2. parent's higher ratings of teachers 3. teachers rating of parents are more helpful. 4. improved student achievement 5. parent support of schools improves Become a PTO memeber, attend ballgames, volunteer to operate the concession stand, Donate a 1/2 day once a month to be a "school helper", volunteer to read to a class, help with an art & craft activity, make copies, decorate a bulletin board, sign up to be a chaperone for a school field trip, offer to take pictures at the schools Fall Fest..... I work and have younger kids; how can I help? 1. If you pick up your youngster after school, ask if you can come 10-15 minutes early and help the teacher tidy up the room. 2. Offer to shop for items you child's teacher may need for the classroom. You can get them on your next trip to "Wal-Mart" 3. Do you have computer? Find out if you can do online tasks from home. Maybe the teacher needs someone to update the class Website or type letters to go home to parents. REMEMBER: A little bit goes a long way toward helping out a teacher--AND-- letting your child know you care about her education! |
