I have lived in Nashville for the past thirty-seven years. Previous to
that time I lived in Michigan, Illinois, and Iowa. My wife, Ann, and I have
two daughters, Maria and Ana. Maria is a junior at Lambuth University in
Jackson. Ana is a sophmore at John Overton High School in Nashville.
I graduated from Iowa State University in 1971 with a B.S. in Advertising
Design, and worked for thirty years as a graphic artist in Illinois, Iowa,
and Tennessee. I worked as a self-employed graphic artist for nineteen years
in Nashville. I decided to go back to school, so that I could be certified to
teach art. In 2001 I earned a Post-Bacclaureate Teacher License in Art
Education from MTSU.
This is my eighth year teaching Art in elementary school. During the
first year I taught art at both West and Gladeville Elementary, but since
then I have taught at only at West. I really enjoy teaching art to the
students at West.
I what my students to enjoy creating art, to learn to appreciate art, and
to understand the patience reguired to produce good art. I intend to teach
art in a manner that will help students develop creative problem-solving
skills.
