| Find out the following information about your biome:
• climate and weather (annual high and low temperature, average
precipitation, types of weather)
• animals (endangered and non-endangered species)
• vegetation (major trees, shrubs, plants, crops)
• landforms (mountains, rivers)
• geographic location of the biome throughout the world
• places of interest
You can use the Biome Worksheet to record your information.
After you have completed your research, you may begin to work on a
Powerpoint presentation designed to provide information about your biome.
The presentation should consist of:
• A title slide with the name of your biome and the team members
* A map slide which labels continents, oceans, and major cities, where
your biome is located
• A climate/weather slide (may have a chart or graph to show weather
patterns)
• A slide (or slides) about major animals (identify/label each animal)
• A slide (or slides) about vegetation (natural and/or cultivated,
identify with labels
• A slide about major landforms
• Slides showing/describing places of interest
* A slide that shows adpatations of plants and animals needed for
survival
* A slide showing a food chain within the biome
• A slide encouraging visitors (perhaps with a slogan)
• A bibliographic slide citing your sources (Books and Internet sites)
• A Credits page with your photo or photos. You may use the digital
camera - Ask Mrs.Wells
• Include at least six imported graphics from the Internet, Microsoft
Works, or Encarta
The PowerPoint must have all of the content listed on the slide above.
However, you may use more than one slide to display the content. For
example, you might have two slides showing major animals. Each team member
is responsible for their own informatiopn being recorded on a slide or
slides. The team should work together on the slides.
Each team will be assigned a biome by the teacher. It is the team's job
to research the biome and gather facts and information about that biome.
Each member of the team will become an expert in a particular aspect of the
biome. Discuss with your team which roles each of you will assume. Remember
that you are all responsible for learning about the biome you are
presenting, but your role reflects an area of particular focus for you as
you research. As you research,if you discover information you think your
teamates can use, either copy it down or note where it can be found. Relay
this information to your other expert scientists.
You are required to use at least 3 book sources along with your Internet
sources. All sources will need to be recorded for your bibliography slide.
The books are on the cart in the room. The Interenet sources can be found
on your "Role".
