CDC-Fluman

Welcome to my teacher website. My name is Kathleen Fluman and this is my
first year here at West Valley Middle as a CDC teacher. I’ve enjoyed
working with all of my students and I feel blessed to have such a wonderful
bunch!

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE SUMMER!

Students can do the following summer activities. These are only suggested,
not required:

Your child can read books on reading level (the reading level can be found
on your child’s IEP) A books reading level is usually marked on the back of
the book. Local libraries have lists of suggested summer reading for all
different grade levels.

Your child can write in a journal. Stress the use of proper punctuation,
capitalization, and indent! A good thing for your child to write about is
an activity they wish to do or something fun they’ve done.

If your child is still working on remembering multiplication facts,
flashcards can be purchased at the School Box on Morrell Rd.

Behavior Logs:

Please ask your child to see his or her behavior log every night! We try to
get them filled out with any important information (including homework) that
you need to know about. Once it gets home, it's the student and parents
responsbility to see that homework gets completed! MAKE SURE YOU SEE IT
EVERY NIGHT!!!

GRADING POLICY:
I do not assign homework often. Therefore, I expect for homework to be
completed in a timely manner when it is assigned. Please check this site
and the behavior log to make sure your child is staying on top of assigned
work. I am willing to offer some flexibility with homework but will deduct
points if a student continually does not turn in homework on time.

About Mrs. Fluman:

The past six months of my life have been a whirlwind and I’ve had lots of
life changes! At the end of July, I moved to Knoxville from Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania. After the first few days of school, I got married to my
husband, Harrison. New job, new state, new husband … I’ve enjoyed every
exciting second!

In my spare time, I enjoy being outside with my husband. We love to hike,
run, and explore the beautiful Smoky Mountains and East Tennessee. If we’re
not outside, you can usually find us at the movie theater, traveling to
different parts of the country and world, or cheering on our team, the Penn
State Nittany Lions. LETS GO P-S-U!

I'm very happy to announce that Mrs Lynn Vander Naald has joined our
classroom
as our new teaching assistant. We're so happy to have her!
