Students took the Diagnostic Test to assess strengths and weaknesses as we
begin the 8th grade curriculum.
3B Lt
Stjdent completed a worksheet on synonym analogies. We read aloud a scene
from " A Midsummer Night's Dream." We read silently while some students took
the STARS test.
Wednesday August 5th A Day
2A Pre-Algebra
Students took the Diagnostic Test. We went over how to complete a Graphiti
graph. Students were given Graphiti #10 to complete for extra credit.
RICA
Students went to the auditorium for an assembly dealing the 8th grade
discipline expections. Afer returning to class, students were given a copy
of the mini-school letter, were given time to read it, and are to bring it
home to have the last page completed and signed.
ALGEBRA
Students took the diagnostic test.
Tuesday August 4th
2B and 4B Pre-Algebra
Students received a copy and we discussed the class guidelines. Please sign
and return the last page.
I decmonstrated how to complete a Sudoku puzzle and how to complete a Graphiti
graph. Students have Sudoku Puzzle #2 and Graphiti #10 to complete for extra
credit points
3B Lit
We discussed analogies. Students completed a handout over this. We
discussed and turned in this assignment.
We also completed an interest inventory that was turned in.
Students read silently either from a book or Scope magazine. Some students
took the STARS reading test.
Monday August 3rd
2A Pre-Algebra
Class was shortened due to the extended homerooom.

I demonstrated how to solve a Sudoku puzzle. This is one of the assignments

3A RICA
RICA (Reading in the Content Area) focuses on ways that reading is involved
in each academic subject. My class this nine weeks will focus on math and
personal finance. Today the students took a Financial Fitness pre-test to
assess their current knowledge of financial terms and applications.
4A Algebra

correctly completing the graph and 5 additional points if it is colored using
crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
