gliding, Frank Sinatra, King Cole, Tony Benett, Vaughn Monroe, Sarah Vaughn,
Artie Shaw, Mills Brothers, Ames Brothers and McGuire Sisters ~ yes, most of
these people are dead and if you're lucky I'll let you hear some of my
recordings, some on 8-track!. Otherwise shut-up and don't bother me!

Mr. Bullock begins his Masters in Choral Conducting next summer, 08, at
APSU. Wish him well and send cash!!

Mission For The Class

There are three vocal classes at Wilson Central:

1 - NINTH GRADE CHOIR, Vocal Music I: any ninth grader may audition for
the class. Once enrolled he will learn the basics of vocal production,
rhythm, note value and solfedge; these are the essentials of sight-singing.
Competencies in these areas are pre-requisites for participation in
any upper-division or extra-cirricular ensemble.

2 - The first Upper Division Choir is an SSAA Choir, VARSITY WOMEN. Vocal
Music II, III & IV; Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors respectively. Students
assigned to this ensemble must audition, yearly, and, depending upon their
classification, spend at least a semester in Vocal Music I or Freshmen
Choir.
Varsity Women is the most decorated Choir at Wilson Central. For three
years running this ensemble has scored Superior Performances at Middle
Tennessee Vocal Association's Choral Festival and as a result, invited to
sing at State Finals in Nashville where they have scored two Superiors and
one Excellent. These girls are exceptional and very proud ~ so am I.

3 - The second upperclassmen group, Vocal Music II, III, IV: VARSITY MEN.
This group is staffed by young men whom have successfully completed Chorus I
in their Freshmen year. Like the girls they are essentially a performance
and touring group, responsible for concert at Christmas, Spring, Spring
Festival/Tour and competitive events. They participate in the same Honor
Choir events with the girls each year and are expected to audition for both
All-County and All-State Choirs. No student may sing with Varsity Men or
Women without passing a difficult audition annually. Each must demonstrate
ability to blend and learn quickly. These young men are also eligible for
participation in Vocal Jazz and Barbershop Quartets.

Every third year the Varsity Women and Men combine to form Varsity Choir.
This combination gives Upperclassmen an opportunity to sing SATB once more
after their Freshmen year and the opportunity is unprcedented in Middle
Tennessee. Not only does Wilson Central have an award winning Women and
Men's Choirs but the administration gives these high school students the
benefit of a combined (SATB) experience as well. It may not look like much
on paper but it is hugh in the block setting. Mr. Bullock is grateful to
the administration and guidance office for their invaluable help
constructing this unique Choral Music Program at Central.
