About The Teacher

I would like to welcome you and your child to the third grade at Algood
Elementary School. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your
child. I am a graduate of Cookeville High School, and I received both my
Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in Early Childhood Education
from Tennessee Technological University. This will be my 23rd year teaching
in the Putnam County School System. I am very happily married to Frank, my
better half. I have two wonderful children (who I am sure I will talk about
frequently), a 20 year old daughter, Taylor, who is a junior nursing major
at Tennessee Technological University, and a 17 year old son, Ben, who is a
senior at Cookeville High School. We love our American Bulldog, Sampson.
I enjoy reading, walking, photography, being outdoors, surfing the web for
classroom ideas, and spending time with my precious family.

Mission For The Class

I am committed to making this year an awesome experience for your child. I
will be generous with my smiles each day! My main goal this year is to
produce excellent, confident readers with an enthusiasm for learning that
will last a lifetime! I will recognize the individuality of my students and
will provide opportunities for each of them to experience success! We will
be responsible for our actions, and we will work as good citizens in our
classroom. We will respect ourselves, one another, and all property. We
will achieve academic excellence in a fun, safe, productive, learning
environment. I believe that ALL CHILDREN are special and wonderful!

Algood School's Mission Statement

The mission of Algood School, hand-in-hand with our community, is to provide
a quality education through diverse and clearly focused educational programs
that instill in all students intellectual, moral, physical, emotional and
social values; produce citizens competent in basic skills, possessing the
ability to think critically and solve problems; promote a positive attitude
toward learning; and prepare all students to succeed in this ever-changing
world.

*We, the faculty and staff at Algood School, believe that every student is
an untapped resource with varying potentials, characteristics, needs, and
interests. We further believe that the future of our community and society
depends on the young minds that we are educating today.

*We believe students must have a safe environment that promotes optimal
student learning.

*We believe every child should be given the opportunity to develop a life-
long love of learning, by having enjoyable learning experiences that build
self-esteem and enhance personal dignity.

*We believe that home, school, and community share in the responsibility of
nurturing and preparing productive young men and women for tomorrow.

*We believe all students should learn to be sensitive to and respectful of
the uniqueness of others.

*We believe students learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for
success and developmentally appropriate learning activities.

*We believe commitment and harmony among administration, faculty, and staff
members promote a productive learning atmosphere.
