Students have been given the following information to share with parents to work on their Personal
and Family HIstory Project, which is not due until September 3rd:
Table of Contents (add extra entries on blank lines if applicable)
Project Outline (needs to be signed by a parent and gives details of the project requirements)
Parent Interview (to be done with a parent or grandparent)
Family Tree (please work with your child to complete)
Personal Timeline (done in class, but feel free to do one online if desired)
Pinpointing Global Roots (put red dots where family members came from - that's it!)
I'm a Very Special Person! (completed first week of school)
BIOPOEM - will be done in Reading class
Autobiography - will be done in SS class, but will need to be typed

Most of the materials students need for Social Studies are kept in the classroom. I have been working
on teaching standards and not making students constantly read the textbook. Most of what we do in
my class will be accomplished during the school day.
Students are encouraged to bring grades up if necessary by doing extra credit - any project or
activity related to what we are currently learning about.
We could use some help from parents to take care of administrative responsibilities. If you are
willing to help, please let us know what your availability is.
We are currently working on a Geography Unit - a test will be given next week. Students will be allowed
to use their journals.
