About The Teacher

Hi! I began working with autism in 1991 as a behavioral therapist. In 1995, I
started my teaching career in Morgan County, Tennessee. The first year, I was
a guidance counselor (they didn't need a special education teacher), and the
next year, I taught a CDC/ behavior class including students with autism,
emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, hearing and visual impairments,
ADHD, and mental retardation (most with a combination of several impairments).
During my time in Morgan County, I also directed summer autism intervention.
After moving back to Putnam County in 1997, I have taught 7-12 grade behavior,
K-4 behavior, and 5th grade inclusion. I am very excited about having the
opportunity to teach this classroom for the 3rd year.

I am married to Jerry Boyd, who is the assistant director of curriculum for
the Putnam County school system and formerly principal at Upperman High School
in Baxter.
We have three children: Killian in the 10th grade at Cookeville High School,
Calista here in the 6th grade, and Silas in the 3rd grade at Algood
Elementary. In addition to the humans, our house contains two dogs, a cat, a
gecko , and a fish.
