About The Library Staff

Our librarian, Mrs. Hobbie, and our library aide, Mrs. Aldridge, strive to create an environment that
motivates all students to acquire a lifelong love of reading and develop the habits of learning.  By sponsoring several
reading programs and providing students with innumerable books and resources, the library program is an important
component to the learning experience.

Mrs. Hobbie joined the Anderson Elementary staff as the librarian in the fall of 2006.  After teaching elementary school for
fourteen years, she went back to school to get a Master's Degree in Library Science. She has been serving as a school
librarian for six years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, power walking, and scrapbooking. She resides with her family
in McKinney.

Our library aide, Mrs. Aldridge, joined the Anderson staff in 2004. We are so blessed to have her help and insight as she has
volunteered in several libraries before working at Anderson. Mrs. Aldridge previously volunteered in the libraries at her son's
schools in Dallas and Plano. Prior to that she spent 20+ years in the computer industry. She resides with her family in Frisco.

A Note from the Librarian
Welcome to the Anderson Library.  Our library is the hub of the educational experience on our campus.  The teachers and
the students have availability to the library throughout the day because of the flexible access policy. Students in every
grade level learn research skills as the teachers and librarian work together to integrate the classroom curriculum with
the library's resources. Every grade level participates in at least one major integrated library unit each year--including
kindergarten!  While doing research in the library, the students learn the information seeking strategies, co-operative
group skills, note-taking techniques, and lifetime information skills, as well as learn the necessary curricular material.

I think you will find that our library is a warm and inviting place for students.  We always welcome visitors and volunteers.
Stop by sometime...
--Rene Hobbie, Librarian
