Library Volunteers

Bledsoe LOVES, LOVES, LOVES its volunteers! Our volunteers are the friendliest, most organized, caring, capable, and cheerful group of parents in all of America (at the 'best school in America,' naturally).

There are several positions available in the library. Volunteers can pick and choose from any of the duties below.

1. Shelving: Volunteers commit to a regular time (weekly, twice a month, monthly) to return checked-in books to the shelves. These are the bread-and-butter volunteers of the operation. The library couldn't possibly run without this help. [Or it could, but it would be very messy and no one would be able to find anything.]

2. Specials Volunteers: Since our school has grown so much, the library is helping out with the specials schedule. The library teaches a set class each day to grades K, 1, and 2. The library is looking for volunteers to help with the kindergarten and 1st grade classes (2nd grade volunteers are welcome but not obligatory). The classes come every six days and will be coordinated through the room parent during the 08-09 school year. This job can be done solo or shared with other parents.

3. Event Help: The library operates programs throughout the year, such as visiting authors, reading programs, and other speical events. Let us know if you'd be willing to volunteer on a as needed basis, we'll call you to see if you're available when it's time.

To help keep us all organized, the library releases a volunteer calendar monthly. This calendar will be sent home with your student and posted on this website. The calendar is posted here (once school begins). All Bledsoe volunteers must complete a background check before beginning to work. In the meantime, you can read the 08-09 volunteer manual under the Downloads page.
