EACH FLOWER IS FILMED FOR TWO DAYS AND PHOTOS ARE COLLATED WITHIN 7
MINUTES TO GET THIS EFFECT. See if you can spot floral parts.
Time lapse photography of flowers blooming
To our eyes, a narcissus flower looks uniformly yellow, but a
camera that captures ultraviolet (UV) light reveals the flower's
speckles, streaks, and splashes. Many flowers use these hidden
patterns to signal bees and other pollinators, which can detect
UV light. For a bee's-eye view of more than 100 plant varieties,
check out this gallery from Bjørn Rørslett, a retired water
scientist and photographer from Oslo, Norway. A geranium's
"bull's-eye" pattern, for example, functions like the runway
lights at an airport, guiding approaching insects to a touchdown
at the flower's center, where nectar and pollen await.

This is the "Who wants to live a million years" game we played in
class. Try it yourself to see what kind of disasters your critters
can survive.

This is a place to run a practice trial through the AP labs before
you get to class. No more asking--"What do we do?" You will
already know! Get ready for pre-lab quizzes this way. Refresh you
memory before the AP test.

Cool pollination game if you are thinking about your pollination
project and need to play!!

To the tune of "I've got a feeling" by the Black-eyed Peas...a
review of the process of Cellular Respiration. Have fun!
Here is the Cell Respiration Video
When you get there--click start button for Biochem Version 2,
click trust is necessary, then under samples, select 1EBM. The
handout (which you can pront from the site) includes directions
to walk you through the exploration of hOGG1's Protein Structure
Basics. This is the enzyme that "proof reads" DNA. [Hint: the
window that opens has directions on how to rotate and zoom.]

This link will take you to a gel electrophoresis virtual lab.
You do not need to write anything down to turn in, but doing this
activity will help you understand the process of electrophoresis.

This is the website for AP Biology lecture note powerpoints that
a former student found. It is divided into units and chapters.
Good as a review or to cover material we will not get to for lack
of time.
Try it out!
This is the site to learn about Karyotypes. It also has links to
information about chromosomal mutations and DNA in general.

Videos of suicidal cells and images such as the death
receptor add to this Web site by Phil Dash of St.
GeorgesHospitalMedicalSchoolin London. Embedded in a cells
membrane, the receptor picks up the suicide signal and
unleashes enzymes, which help orchestrate the cells demise.
