Hayride Fun and Pumpkin Picking

Elgin Christmas Tree Farm
October 2, 2009; 9:00-2:00

We will:
1.Hear an informative talk about
farming (including the plant life
cycles, benefits of nature to
society, irrigation, and other
interesting things found on the
farm).
2.Enjoy a scenic hayride.
3.Eat lunch in one of the picnic
areas
4.Navigate our way through the
hay maze and have a blast on the
hay jump.

Each child will take home:
a coloring book and a pumpkin

Admission:
no charge for students
$2 for parents

Walking trip to the Fire Station

Sam Bass Fire Station:
October 8, 2009; 8:15-9:15

We will learn what firefighters
do to help our community, how to
escape from a fire safely, the
importance of an escape plan, and
tips on fire safety.

Exploring the Zoo

The Austin Zoo
April 23, 2010; 9:00-2:00

We will travel by bus to the
Austin Zoo to learn what animals
look like, about their natural
habitats, what they eat, and
about their behavior using our 5
senses.

Admission:
No charge for students
$7 for parents
$7.00 for adults

Investigating the Pond

Shirley MacDonald Park (Duck Pond)
May 13, 2010; 1:15-2:20

We will walk to the pond to
discover what lives there,
measure tree trunks, make bark
rubbings, collect samples of soil
and water, collect living and non-
living things, etc.
