Reading:
Read to and with your child for 15 minutes a day from books in their book
bags and other books. Book bags are to be returned to school when you are
ready for new books.
Ask your child questions about the stories and discuss characters,
setting, problem, and solution. Help your child sequence the story asking
what happened first, second, etc., and how the story ended.
Writing:
Have your child practice writing his/her name. Make sure to start with a
capital and follow with lowercase letters. Writing names in all capitals is
a difficult habit to change. Also, practice target letter for the week on
handwriting page provided. You may also practice other letters on your own
paper.
Handwriting homework is sent home each Monday or Tuesday, beginning by the
end of September, and is due each Friday. Place in homework folder when
completed and return it to school.
