What is the difference between a back walker and front walker?

Back walkers are children who walk home from the back of the school. They
will meet parents or older siblings on the black top.
Front walkers are children who leave from the front of the school. They will
be dismissed from the porch just outside the computer lab.

Your child will need a large towel for rest time. These will be sent home
each Friday to be washed. Due to limited storage space, we ask for no nap
mats,or pillows please.

Can my child buy a hot lunch lunch from the cafeteria?

Yes, but we request that children bring a lunch from home for the first few
weeks of school in order to ease the transition. After students feel more
comfortable in established routines, then they may be ready to buy their
lunch from the cafeteria.

How do I pay for my child's lunch?

It is recommended that you purchase a lunch ticket for your child ahead of
time. Tickets may be purchased for the week/month using cash or a check.
This money will be placed in an account for your child to be used as needed.
Check with the cafeteria for your child's account balance. Please send it in
a sealed envelope with your child's name and teacher to the cafeteria before
school begins in the morning.

Can I have lunch with my child at school?

Yes, but we feel it is best to wait a few weeks. In the beginning, we like
students to get used to the routine. We often find that seeing their parents
in the middle of the day causes a tearful seperation when lunch ends that
can be hard on both parent and child.

Will my child have Show and Tell?

Yes, each Friday is designated Show and Tell Day. We encourage the children
to bring something interesting that correlates to our unit of study. Our
monthly calendar will keep you informed of our upcoming units. No toys,
please.

What can I do to help my child at home?

You can help your child by establishing routines with your child such as
setting an appropriate bedtime, (studies show 5 year olds need at least l0
hours of sleep per night!), and reading to your child nightly. Show an
interest in your child's education by checking backpacks daily and
discussing what your child has learned each day.
