Week of 1/23-1/27Career Cruising PortfolioWe are working on an ongoing research project. Each student is required to take the Career Cruising "Matchmaker Survey" in order to find out which jobs are best suited for him/her. After the survey is completed, the students will select their top 10 job preferences to research in more depth. Mrs. Wike created a "Career Profile Page" that must be filled out for each one of the 10 job preferences. Students must complete the profile pages with proper grammar, correct spelling, neat handwriting, and accurate information. Once all of the profile pages are completed and proofread by Mrs. Wike, the students will organize their information in a portfolio. They will complete a Table of Contents, Title Page, and 1-page reflection as well. The portfolio is due on February 14th, and 5 points will be deducted from every day that it is late. The portfolio will count for 3 major test grades (1. completion, 2. content, 3. organization & following instructions). The intent of this project is to provide 8th grade students with current, relevant information about jobs available to them and suitable for them as they make major future decisions for high school and college.
