What homework is there each week, and when is it due?

Spelling lists are sent home each Friday. Spelling activities are due the
following Friday, and students will be tested over their words at that time.

Reading logs are sent home each Friday, and by the following Friday,
students must have read at least 90 minutes. This log MUST be signed by both
the student and parent.

Math 4-squares are sent home each Friday and due the following Friday. These
homework problems are a review of skills previously taught.

Science or Social Studies 4-squares are sent home each Friday, and due the
following Friday. Students will only have one or the other, NOT both.

Students are required to take four AR tests each 9 week grading period. Ask
your child about their Read-a-bingo plan!

What do the colors mean in my child's agenda?

Blue - Fabulous day!! Your child did something above and beyond our normal
expectations.
Green - they had a good day, no conduct marks!
Yellow - one conduct mark and lost 5 minutes of recess
Orange - two conduct marks and lost 10 minutes of recess
Red - three or more conduct marks and lost all of recess. Missing homework
is
an automatic red.

What is the consequence if my child does not turn in their homework on time?

It is an automatic red for the day if a student is missing any of the
homework assignments. They also lose their recess for that day, and spend
the time making up the work. Late work can be turned in the following school
day for 10 points off the grade.

Can my child take an AR test at home? Can I view their AR progress from home?

Yes, the Accelerated Reader program is available to access from any internet
connection. Just go to our school website at
http://schools.roundrockisd.org/cactusranch/ and click on AR at the bottom.
From there, your child can log on to take a test, or you can request access
to view their progress.
