On behalf of the Cactus Ranch PTA, I would like to welcome all of our families back for the 2011-2012 school year! This year, in conjunction with our school administration and faculty, we invite you to join us in "Cruising Through the Decades", celebrating the 10th birthday of CRE. We are looking forward to this coming year. PTA has been busy planning our family nights and programs for both parents and students. We will NOT be having our annual Hoedown this year but instead will be having a 10th Birthday Basket Bash on February 17th. We took all the favorite events from our former Hoedown (like the themed baskets) and added some new things as well. This promises to be a fun family evening that you won't want to miss!
As parents, it is extremely important to be involved in our children's education. PTA is a vital link between home, school and community. It is the largest child advocacy volunteer group in America and speaks on behalf of children who cannot affect change for themselves. The PTA's budget is based solely on membership dues, school-wide fundraisers and tax-deductible donations. I encourage you to become an active participaant in our school and community by becoming a member of CRE PTA! Membership in PTA allows parents to have a stronger voice in how PTA funds are allocated, what kinds of fundraisers and events are planned and how to best support our school. Another benefit of PTA membership comes in the form of discounts from places such as Sea World, Six Flags, Dell and Southwest Airlines just to name a few! Please consider joining PTA today!
We are always in need of volunteers on many levels. Without our generous volunteers, events like our Back to School Howdy, 10th Birthday Basket Bash and Family Nights would not be possible. We have volunteer opportunities for every time and commitment level - there is always something to fit every schedule. Please check out the volunteer form to see what best fits your needs.
With time, talent and monetary support, CRE families help PTA accomplish great things for the students, teachers and families of Cactus Ranch. This year, the PTA has provided the student agendas for grades 1-5, continues to help support and/or coordinate wonderful programs including Watch DOGS, Math SuperStars, Spelling Bee, Math Pentathlon, Reflections, Science Fair and more! In addition, PTA helps maintain the district's Clothes Closet, providing clothing to children in need. Two programs new to CRE last year were so successul - CRE's got Talent and Take Your Family to School Week - that we are bringing them back again this year! The talent show will be on October 7th so be on the lookout for more information about this.
