Welcome to Cactus Ranch! My name is Christy Zunker and it is my privilege to be your child's 3rd grade teacher. I would like to tell you about myself. I celebrated my 15th year of marriage to my high school sweetheart, Rusty, this summer. We have two handsome boys. Noah, our oldest son, is 12 years old and will be in 7th grade at Walsh Middle School. Eli is 9 years old and will be in 4th grade here at Cactus Ranch. We also have a dog, Sienna, who will be 14 in November. She’s showing her age lately, poor girl.
This will be my 18th year of teaching, all in RRISD, and my ninth year teaching third grade at Cactus Ranch. I earned a BA from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 1994. I majored in communication and also obtained my elementary teacher certification.
I love Cactus Ranch and I really love my job! The start of a new year with new faces and families is such an exciting time. I look forward to building new relationships with you and your child. I strongly believe that it is this relationship that is the key to us achieving our goals. Once the kids see how much I truly care about them and their success, there is very little they won't do to achieve their goals. We will work hard because the expectations are high. I will be there every step of the way to guide and support them. I will give them 110%, as well as offer you suggestions as to how to best give this same support at home. I will never take credit for doing this job by myself. It's just not possible. Together, though, we are going to do some pretty amazing things this year.
Open and constant communication between us is essential to achieving our goals, whether it be by email, phone, or in person. I want you to feel comfortable coming to me with all your questions and concerns. You will soon see that my favorite form of communication is by email and I hope you enjoy the biweekly updates. My email is Christy_Zunker@roundrockisd.org and that is the easiest way to contact me.
I can’t wait to get this year started! I will see you tomorrow and then again on Tuesday for the first day of school. Oh, the places we will go!
