I grew up in Craig, Colorado, and was always singing and playing music
- in choirs, bands (playing percussion), orchestras (playing violin), piano
lessons, musical theater, plays, and solo voice recitals. When I
graduated from high school, I knew I had to pursue a career in music. I
decided to attend the University of Southern California for my Bachelor
degree, and there I began to study how to sing opera.
In 2003, I moved to Austin so I could get a Master degree in Opera at the
University of Texas. Soon after I arrived in Austin, I met my husband. We
were married in October of that year, and have been living happily ever
after. We have two cats, Titus and Phil, who keep us amused at their antics
all day.
I taught music privately for many years, but am excited to be teaching in the
public schools and am loving the students, faculty and staff at Cactus Ranch.
This is my second year as a full-time teacher, and my first teaching for
RRISD. Outside of school, I also continue to look for opportunities to sing
and perform music in the community, including singing with the Austin Lyric
Opera Chorus and Spotlight on Opera.
