Welcome to Cactus Ranch Elementary! My name is Heather Gilbert, and I
will be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year. I graduated from Texas
A&M with a Bachelors of Science degree in Interdisciplinary
Studies. I am certified in Early Childhood-Fourth Grade and English as a
Second Language. I am very honored and excited to begin my teaching career
in such a wonderful school.
I grew up in Round Rock I.S.D. and attended Spicewood Elementary, Canyon
Vista Middle School and Westwood High School. It has been my dream to return
to the district that inspired me to become a teacher. I have always loved
working with children and it is my passion to see them learn and grow with
new experiences each day.
I am the oldest of four girls. I have a sister who is a freshman at Texas A&M
this fall and identical twin sisters who are starting middle school at Canyon
Vista. I have two adorable and lively Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppies named
Cricket and Rigby Mae. I love playing with my puppies, decorating, reading,
scrap-booking, singing and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I believe that children need to set goals. I will encourage them to set
reachable goals and to challenge themselves. As a teacher, I see the
importance of providing as many opportunities as possible for my student's
curiosities to be explored and creativity to be brought out. A classroom
should always be a safe place for
sharing ideas with built in protection from adverse consequences. Each child
in my class will feel safe and welcome and be encouraged to support their
classmates. We will grow together as a school family and engage in many
cooperative learning situations.
