Get ready for an exciting year in second grade at Cactus Ranch Elementary!
This will be my fourth year at CRE and I am truly blessed and honored to be
part of your child's education. Second grade is an important year for
students as they begin to grow as readers, writers and problem solvers in all
academic areas. My students inspire me each and everyday and I truly enjoy
teaching and watching them blossom.
The oldest of three girls, and as an Air Force brat, I’ve traveled the globe
with my family making friends wherever the military sent us. We adventured
around the world, and in the process, found my love for teaching. After
graduating from high school in Okinawa, Japan, I flew the coop and headed to
Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State University.
Following my dream to work with children, I completed my Bachelors of Science
Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies-Early Childhood. In the fall of 1995, I
accepted a position teaching third grade in the San Antonio Independent
School District.
While teaching, I met my soul mate and married Mark in 2000. After
surviving the wedding planner (myself) and constructing our first home, I
accepted a teaching position in the North East School District. We expanded
our family by adopting Duncan, an English Springer Spaniel, on Mother’s Day
of 2002. In the Fall of 2003, we were blessed with the birth of our son,
Nicholas (he will be attending second grade at Cactus Ranch). Six months
after his birth, Mark was relocated to Austin. Although moving to a new city
and leaving all of my family and friends behind was very difficult, we were
very excited to be moving to Round Rock. After devoting myself to raising my
son for four years, I returned to teaching.
When not teaching, you can find me traveling with my family. I love the
Spurs and Aggies. We attend the games when ever we have the opportunity. My
hobbies are reading books, going to concerts, attending sporting events,
good food, and most importantly spending time with family, friends and
enjoying life.
