Dear Amazing Parents,
Welcome to First Grade at Cactus Ranch!! I am so delighted to be your child's teacher. This will be an incredible year for both you and your child. First grade is an exciting time as students embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is an important year of transitions, as well as one in which acquisition of new skills is accelerated.
In first grade your child will learn so many new things and will become confident readers, writers, and problem solvers. You can help your child reach their goals by listening to your child read or reading to them daily at home. Since so much happens in first grade, parents as well as students
may have some apprehensions. It is extremely important to keep in mind that in first grade we all build on small successes. Each student will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as s/he is developmentally ready. So as this year begins, please remember to enjoy your child's accomplishments whether big or small. Praise them for all their efforts, encourage them to tell you about their day at school, read stories together and laugh with them. Most importantly, tell them how special they are. I promise to do the same at school. I treasure the opportunity to be a part of
