When does my child go to Wellness?
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
What should my child wear to Wellness?
Tennis shoes that enclose the entire foot and socks are needed on
Wellness days.
How do I know what spelling words to study?
Every Friday your child will take a pre-test of new words. If
they get all of the words correct they will take the longhorn
test the following Friday & if they miss 1 or more they will take
the cactus test. On your child's test you will see either a 'C'
for cactus or an 'L' for longhorn. Remember, you are welcome to
study both lists if you feel it is an appropriate challenge for
your child but they will only take one test. The words can be
found in the newsletter and on my website. Please make sure you
or your child writes them in the agenda in the spelling section.
How will I get important information from you and the school?
Information from me: Information will be sent in the daily take
home folder, by e-mail and on my TeacherWeb.
Information from the school: Information will be sent through E-
news, Tuesday folders and the school website.
How do I get lunch money on my child's account?
You can send lunch money in your child's folder. Please make
sure to send it in an envelope or ziploc bag with your child's
name and Ms. Towery on the front. You can also take the money
directly to the cafeteria in the morning or pay online.
Does my child need a snack and water bottle?
Yes, your child needs to bring a healthy snack everyday. It is
optional if you would like for your child to have a water
bottle. If you send one please make sure it's labeled with their
name.
Does my child need to bring their folder to school everyday?
YES, it is VERY important that the plastic folder is returned
daily. This is how important information will get back and forth
between home and school.
Do I need to initial my child's agenda every night?
YES! In the agenda you will find your child's behavior color and
spelling words. You can also write any notes to me that you may
have on that day's date.
What if I have a last minute transportation change?
You will need to call the office and they will make sure I get
the message. I can't promise that I will be able to get a
message from you on my classroom phone before the end of the day.
Can I e-mail or call you whenever I have any questions or concerns?
YES!
How do we celebrate birthdays?
We love birthdays! You are welcome to bring a birthday treat
(cookies, brownies, cupcakes, do-nuts, etc.) for 22 children. It
must be store bought. Please email me or send a note if you will
be bringing treats. We will sing and eat at 1:20, before we go
to specials.
You may send out birthday party invitations as long as all the
children in the class are invited (or ALL boys/ALL girls). If
you choose to invite only certain children you may send those out
through mail.
What do I need to do if my child is absent?
Please call the office at 424-8000 to report an absence as soon
as possible. When your child returns to school, please send a
note in his/her folder explaining the absence. I will turn that
note into the office. Please refer to the Student Handbook you
received at the beginning of the year to determine if the absence
is excused or unexcused. The work will be sent home following
his/her return to school.
What if I need to pick my child up early from school?
Please be sure to send a note in your child's folder if you plan
on picking him/her up early. You must go to the school office to
sign your child out, and I will send your child down to the
office for pick up.
What if I want to have lunch with my child?
Please sign in at the office as a visitor. Please meet your
child outside the cafeteria. Adult lunches cost $2.50. Please
call the cafeteria and order a tray if you are planning on eating
a cafeteria lunch at 424-8088 by 8:15am to place an order.
What should my child bring home everyday?
They should bring home their blue daily folder, reading folder
and agenda. If you have any notes or lunch money please place it
in the front pocket of the blue daily folder. It is your child's
responsibility to place the folder in the bin every morning. At
the end of each day your child's agenda will be marked with a
colored dot indicating your child's behavior.
