Our class is piloting a new spelling program along with 2 other third grade classes. It is spelling pattern based. We will work daily on sorting our words and looking at why the patterns happen and make the sounds that they do. Their words are not getting harder, we're trying to teach them patterns to help them with unknown/difficult words. Here's the great news...no more spelling homework!! All work will be completed in class. There will still be a spelling test on Fridays just to track progress but not for a recorded grade. So, if you see other third student's lists, they will be different from ours.
Next week brings our Valentine's Day party as well as perimeter, soil, author's purpose and prefix/suffix! It will be very busy.
Just a few reminders....
*Please have your child collect a soil sample from your yard and bring it in on Monday. I sent them with a small ziplock bag.
*I am still in need of a gallon size jar if anyone can spare we one=)
*Your child needs to bring a Valentine's Day box or Bag on Tuesday, no bigger than a shoe box or medium sized gift bag.
*Valentine's Day cards will be passed out the morning of 2/14 and opened during the party. Our class list is on my website.
*Multiplication facts need to be reviewed nightly for math homework.
