- girls are to wear 1 piece swimsuits with shorts on
-boys are to wear swim trunks with shirts on
-apply sunscreen at home or you may reapply outside
- bring an extra change of clothes

-bring a bag for the extra clothes

Star Party is Here!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Williamson County Astronomy Club will bring their telescopes and do a
Star Party at CHE Friday, March 2. They will set up beside the playground at
7:00 pm. Family and friends are welcome.

We are the coolest Kindergarten class around.  We turned in and collected 259 box tops.  Rock On!!!! So, we will be having a popcorn party on Friday at the end of the day.  mmmm.......

Thank you parents for collecting them for us.  We are so appreciative and grateful for having such wonderful parents.

BOX TOPS- PLEASE BRING THEM IN BY MONDAY, FEB. 27TH.  

                     
360 Minute Reading  Log- Due-
 Friday, Feb. 24th.  Please turn them in. 


Ice Castles- bring a disposable tupperware with frozen water this Friday.  You may use food coloring to dye the water.  Have your child bring in the disposable tupperware Friday morning.  I suggest freexing it early so that it has enough time to freeze solidly.

A note for the Valentine's Day Celebration will be going home next week, the 2nd week in February.  We will do the same thing as we did for our Winter Celebration, ask for a monetary donation.

Report Cards Are Going Home TODAY, Jan. 11th.  Please review them and write any comments on the brown envelope.  The progress report is also in the envelope for you to have.  Take the report card and  progress report out and return the envelope only.  You can leave the report card information in the envelope if you wish.

2nd 9 weeks Awards Assembly Time-
Thursday, Jan. 12th @ 8:00 am.  Please join us in celebrating your child's accomplishments.  Meet us in the cafeteria.

It's Music Time.....................The winter concert is here.  Mr. Manning and all the teachers are super duper excited about it.  Please read on.
It will be Monday, Dec. 5th immediately following the PTA meeting that will begin at 6:30.  Students are to please wear a white shirt with blue jeans.  Have your best singing voice on and your best smile on for pictures, pictures, pictures.

      Donation Letter
Our class has adopted 2 angels that we will donate items for at Christmas time.  A note has gone home explaining the event.  If you are able to participate, you are welcomed to do so.  Please email me with any questions.


We are in need of heavy duty magnets for our multiple white boards that we use in class.  If you are able to donate a few, please do so.  They really help out when using the white boards for different assignments and to hang class work used as samples.

COMPUTER TIME - Beginning today, students are able to use the computer during our Daily 5 Rotation Stations.  They are completing activities that will aid them in the development of letter sound knowledge and onto reading skills and strategies.  It is the Starfall.com site that is also listed on the links page. Please take time to visit this site to give your child computer use knowledge and work on the different reading skills.  They had a lot of fun today with this site.

New link on the LINKS page.  There is a new science link on the LINKS page I encourage you and your child to visit and participate in.  It will have current science activities that you can review with your child.  Please take advantage of this opportunity.  I also encourage you and your child to visit all links.

Water Bottles- I encourage your child to bring a reusable water bottle to school.  We are having a situation arise with water bottles getting mixed up and not being able to be used.  A distinct reusable water bottle will help our kids better keep track of them.  Please write their name on the water bottle.

OK Parents-  We are doing so wonderful with our Coins for Coats Drive.  We have raised $118.00.  This is enough for almost 12 kids to have coats.  Thank you so much for helping us reach and break through our goal.  Now, let's keep this going because I think there may be some sneak donation attacks on Tuesday morning.  It would be AWESOME if we could win this competition and earn a POPCORN PARTY!!!! 
Help us win, win, win...................and help our own community.  Let's shoot for 15 coats or even more....

Monday, October 24, 2011 at CHE- Health & Safety Fair- come check it out.



So far, our class has raised enough money to buy 3 coats, around $30.00 total to this day.  Our class goal is to raise enough money to buy 10 coats at $10.00 a coat.  Total of $100.00.  BUT, let's blow it out of the water and go for even more than 10 coats. 

Possible Ideas to raise money for Coins for Coats:

Mrs. Reyes, the school counselor discussed many different ways to raise money and here are some ideas:
-garage sale
-lemonade stand
-bake sale
 


COINS FOR COATS- Please send in any loose change or dollars that you are willing to donate to clothe our CHE/RRISD kids during the cold weather months.




              LIBRARY TIME                                           
- Our class library times will vary.  In order for students to have the opportunity to check out books regularly, we have had a class discussion about them returning to school every day.  Please help your child in remembering to pack them in backpacks daily and return them to school.  During the day, they are placed in their book boxes and are one of many books they choose from to read.

Please send in all your Box Tops that you are collecting at home.  The first collection date is Oct. 21.  Kinder would love to be the grade that collects the most.  And of course, we have a friendly competition between the Kinder classes to see who collects the most.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION
- Conferences will begin next week, starting on Monday, September 26, 2011.  A sign up sheet was sent home and is almost filled out with names and scheduled conference times.  If you have not signed up for a time, please email me and we can schedule a time.  An email with the conference schedule will be sent out this week and will be your confirmation email.  A confirmation hard copy will also be sent out at the end of this week as well as the set date written on your child's calendar in their green daily folder. A Parent Input page went home as well.  If you have not recieved it, please email me and I can email you a copy as well as send home a hard copy.  Thanks!!!!

The Rock Star Class  is a pledge that the students came up with .  It is for us to always know that we are important people who make important decisions everyday.  We strive to make the right choices each day and learn from our mistakes.

OPEN HOUSE IS NEAR- Monday, September 12th is Open House @ 6:30.  Please join us as we discuss what to expect this school year. 

WE LOVE OUR COMMUNITY HELPERS
For the next couple of weeks, we are discussing Community Helpers. These can include anywhere from doctors and nurses to coaches and Boy Scout/Girl Scout Troop Leaders as well as military personnel.  We will be having visits from certain community helpers beginning the week of the 19th.  We are looking for the following guest speakers :

Team coach
Boy Scout/Girl Scout Troop Leader
Contractor/Construction Worker
Chef/Baker
Farmer/Rancher
Police Officer
Military

We would like for them to tell our kinder kids about how they help their community.  If you are interested in being a guest speaker or know someone who is, please email me or a Kinder teacher and let us know.  We have a dentist visitor and a hazmat/fire dept visitors already. 

We are also hosting a Community Helpers Parade on September 30th.  More details to come. 






We had a great time with  our grandparents today at lunch.  Thank you for coming and sharing this day with us. 

Welcome to a brand new year!!!!! 

We are very excited to start this year and get your kids excited to be a big kindergarten student.  Please email me with any questions that you may have. Email is the absolute best form of communication where I can respond in a good amount of time.

Arriving after the 7:45 bell
Please note if your child arrives after the 7:45 bell, they will be counted as tardy and if they don't have a tardy slip, will be required to go to the office and get one before returning to the classroom.  Also, if they are tardy and the lunch choice count has already been delivered to the cafeteria, they will get the food item that is extra in the lunch line.  This means that they may not get what they want, they will get the choice the cafeteria has extra of. 

Snacks  - Please have all snacks ready for students to be able to eat.
Healthy snacks are encouraged and can include:
      fruit (cut up in pieces and ready to eat) 
      grahm crackers
      fruit roll up treats
      trail mix treats
      cheeses cracker snacks
      dry cereal
      granola bars
      fruit bars

PEWE
All students need to come to school with the appropriate gym shoes on PEWE days.  The following is our PEWE schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays
Students that don't bring the correct shoes will have to sign the PEWE book.  Please make sure that your child comes to school with the right shoes.
