Growing up as a farm girl in Iowa (yes I baled hay, walked beans, herded
cattle and drove a tractor), I started my teaching career in Carroll, Iowa
and Geneva, Nebraska as an elementary teacher and high school volleyball,
softball and basketball coach for four years.
After spending a good portion of my life in the midwest, I made the big move
to the great state of Texas (I wasn't born here but got here as fast as I
could!)and I taught in the Dallas Independent School District for 15 years
as an elementary and middle school teacher, talented and gifted
teacher,coordinator and TAKS coach.
With my last move to the Austin area I started as a 5th grade TAG cluster
teacher at Pflugerville ISD for three years before taking on my greatest and
most exciting challenge ever as the TAG Specialist at Callison Elementary
when the school opened in 2008.
I have one son, Derek, a nuclear engineer in the United States Navy stationed
in San Diego, California. He is married to Jamie, also an elementary teacher
and graduate of Texas A&M. I have a wonderful grandson Nolan, who was born
this summer.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, hiking, jogging, yoga, cooking and
visiting with family and friends. My parents and many siblings still live in
central Iowa and I try and make it home two to three times a year.
We are dedicated to excellence, to maximize the potential and meet the unique
educational and affective needs of identified TAG students by providing
challenging opportunities, intellectual stimulation, and differentiated
programming. As a collaborative community, we strive to inspire creativity,
lifelong learning, and positive contributions to society.
