Weekly Curriculum


November 7th - 11th   

Math
Students will use concrete and pictorial models to name quantities to 20.
Students will use concrete and pictorial models to describe the number of objects in a set.  
Students will count and compare numbers and will use ordinal numbers to describe position in a sequence. 

Science
Students use their senses to explore heat, sound, and light energy.
Students understand that we feel heat energy, we hear sound energy, and we see light energy.

Social Studies

Students will examine the difference between needs and wants.

Students will examine how citizens in a community provide for those needs and wants.


Reading

Students analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions about expository text, and provide evidence from text to support their understanding. Students are expected to:

(A)  identify the topic and details in expository text heard or read, referring to the words and/or illustrations;

(B)  retell important facts in a text, heard or read;

(C)  discuss the ways authors group information in text;

(D)  use titles and illustrations to make predictions about text.


Writing
Plan a first draft by generating ideas for writing through class discussion
Stories are written from left-to-write and top-to-bottom.
Students understand that our pictures should match our stories.
Writers listen to sounds they hear in words and write those sounds on paper.
Writers add details to their stories and stretch it across several pages.
