SAFETY NOTIICE:
An orange notice went home today with your child. We know this may have not made it to you, so we would like to restate what was written:
It was reported to us Friday morning that there was an incident at Trailhead Park Thursday afternoon, February 9, around 5:00 pm. A man in his late twenties/early thirties approached two middle school girls and made inappropriate remarks and gestures to them. There was a police report filed about this incident. Please talk with your children and be extra vigilant during these next few days/weeks as your children go to and around Trailhead Park.
VALENTINES DAY:
Love, Love, Love! Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. Please be sure that your student has written a Valentine for each student in the class. A class list went home on Tuesday. Please also remember when selecting treats to send in with Valentines that we are a nut free classroom/school. -Most of the time anyway :) - Your student is also responsible for making and decorating their Valentine Mailbox. Shoeboxes with a large opening in the top for deliveries work best. These as well as Valentines for each classmate can be brought in beginning Monday. Thank you again for remembering not to send in candy that contains nuts.

3rdGRADE SCIENCE DAY:
Our 3rd Grade Science Day has been scheduled for the morning of Friday, March 30. We need parent volunteers to help Tisa Warner with assisting in experiments and teaching short lessons that are already prepared. It's a fun day for both the volunteers and the students! FAMILY FUN FEST:
Family Fun Fest (our annual school carnival) is coming up on Saturday, February 25th from 2-5 PM. Mark your calendars for a great time for everyone in the family. In order to make it a success, we need volunteers to man the games, set up and clean up. You can sign up at www.canyoncreekpta.com/familyfunfest.php. Also, if you have some leftover candy or small toys (like those from fast food restaurants) you are wanting to part with, please donate them in the Family Fun Fest box by the stairs so we can use them as prizes. Be looking for more announcements in the weeks ahead about other exciting events happening at Family Fun Fest, like Teacher Treats and the Silent Auction. FEBRUARY ATTENDANCE NOTE FROM THE DISTRICT:
Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, and every grade that follows, provide an important foundation which will follow children through their educational career through high school and even into college. The basic skills taught during these early development classes, such as letters, numbers, and reading, will be used as the basis in every class through graduation. In addition to the basic skills learned, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten is an ideal time to start teaching children the importance of school as they get their first taste of true educational instruction. Additionally, encouraging responsibility through daily attendance will instill good habits students will keep into adulthood.
ONE WORLD CHALLENGE NOTE FROM PTA:
One World Challenge 2011-2012
Protecting and conserving our Natural resources
The One World Challenge is sponsored by CCE PTA Environmental Awareness Committee and it is open to all students attending CCE school.
Each year, the committee highlights a current environmental or conservation issue for students to utilize their creativity.
Water conservation is increasingly becoming an important concern. According to the statistics, 36 states are anticipating water shortages by 2013 and Texas is one of them. Whether this is due to population growth, availability of water, or environmental concerns, water conservation is becoming a major focal point. The current drought has simply intensified that effort. Perhaps now is a good time for CCE students to take up the issue and unleash their imagination by participating in The One World Challenge.
In this challenge, students are invited to create a solution to address the protection and conservation of our water resources. Solutions may be submitted in any of the following three formats:
Visual – Open to all grade divisions (K-5)
Essay – Open to Intermediate (3-5) grade divisions
Public Service Announcement – Open to Intermediate (3-5) grade division
