I'm so thrilled to be part of the Canyon Creek community. I arrived at our
fabulous school on the day it opened in 1997. I spent my first four years
here as a third grade teacher and then came to second grade in 2002. This is
a second career for me. My original degree is in business administration and
I worked in the areas of accounting and finance for a major aerospace and
aeronautics corporation. As soon as my first child was born I decided to
stay at home and do the "mommy thing". I began substitute teaching when my
youngest entered school. I found my niche and returned to the State
University of New York at New Paltz to
pursue my teaching degree, often driving 50 minutes for morning classes,
then returning in the evening for another class. Weeks before the start of
my student teaching experience my husband's company offered him a position
in Germany. Our family was packed and off in no time. We spent two of the
most wonderful years of our lives in a small German town just outside of
Stuttgart in southern Bavaria. At the end of our assignment we were
transferred to Austin. I completed my degree here in Texas. Nineteen years
ago I was blessed to be offered a teaching position at Laurel Mountain with
my friend, Eleece Moffatt. Knowing I could never work for anyone but her, I
followed her here to CCE. The rest is history. Austin is home. My husband
and two sons work at IBM. My oldest son, Chris and his wife live in
Connecticut with their three beautiful daughters. Matthew and his
wife,Christie, and son Landon, live right here in Canyon Creek. My daughter
Laura and her husband and three children live just
down the road in Steiner Ranch.
I am thankful to have such a rewarding job working side by
side with my dedicated teammates who are also my closest friends. Teaching is
my passion and I thank you for sharing your children with me in this great
community.
Our mission is to make the most of every day. We work hard when it's time to
work, play hard when it's time to play, and we know the difference between
work and play.
