NEWS AND INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK OF May 21st

The last week of kindergarten has arrived! Can you believe it? I have so enjoyed the short time I have spent with the butterflies. They have all made tremendous growth this year. Please encourage them to practice their reading and writing skills over the summer. The end of the school year is hard for everyone. I am sure there will be lots of emotional times this week. Please try to keep things as normal as possible on the home front to help us make a smooth transition into the long awaited summer break.

This past week we did all sorts of things related to the beach and summer fun. The “Read at Home” rewards were presented on Friday afternoon. Congratulations to our top readers, Emily, Annika, Michael, Will, and Ben. Great job to all who participated in this reading incentive program!

Next week we will be closing our year with each day being a designated “special day”. – Please refer to the  “End of Year Supplies Needed by All Kindergarten Students” sheet which came home in this past week’s Tuesday folder. You’ll also, find a reminder of the activities and materials needed below:

  • Tuesday (5/24) Writing Day: writing paper and/or instruments
  • Wednesday (5/25) Reading Day: pillow, flashlight, and books

  • Friday (5/27) End of the year party: Send your child in a swimsuit under his/her clothes, a towel (labeled with child’s name), and sunscreen your child before he/she comes to school. If your child attends YMCA, send DRY CLOTHES AND UNDERWEAR, as well as a PLASTIC BAG for all the wet clothes.

END OF THE YEAR PARTY

The kindergarten end of the year party will be on Friday, May 25, starting at 12:45pm and lasting until the end of the day. The kindergarten students will enjoy exciting water adventures outside. Many parent volunteers are needed to make this final kindergarten event successful and fun.

SPECIAL VISITOR

We will have a special visit from Mrs. Benoit and baby Charlie. They will spend a little time with us before the end of the school day on Wednesday. The students will be very excited to see the new baby!   Please help me keep this visit as a surprise!

POETRY FOLDERS/TUESDAY FOLDERS

The poetry folders and Tuesday folders will come home this week to STAY! Do not send them back to school.  What great memories of the areas of learning we covered in kindergarten! Hopefully, your little Butterfly will read through their poetry folder many times this summer and in the future.

REPORT CARDS

Report cards will come home on Friday, the last day of school.

BAGS

On the last day, your child will be bring home a large grocery bag filled with lots of things: journals, handwriting books, Father’s Day cards, writing packets,  report cards, etc. Please take the time to carefully go through the bags and look at the items inside. The journals and practice books are great for summer practice.
