One week out of the school year your child will be featured as our
classroom “Superstar”. During this week your child is asked to bring a poster
board with photos that will be displayed in the classroom. The poster should
be brought to school on Monday so your child can tell about his/her pictures
and it can be displayed all week. He/She may also bring in items of interest
to share with the class on Monday such as a trophy, a souvenir, or a
collection. ***Please note, if there is no school on Monday, Superstar
posters will be presented on Tuesday.
On Wednesday your child will be “the poet”. At home, he/she will select a
poem, copy the poem, and be prepared to do some activities from the “Poet’s
Place” with the class. The poem needs to be written neatly and decorated on
chart paper supplied by me. I have poem books if you need to borrow one.
Your child will also have other special privileges during the week. On
Friday, your child will be “the reader” and is asked to read a book of
his/her choice to the class. This should be a special book that is enjoyed by
your child and has been practiced at home. After reading the book, the reader
will ask classmates comprehension questions prepared at home.
I hope your child has fun being the “Superstar”. We love to get to know each
child better!
